D I Y SOCK SNOWMAN

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Rice Crew-Length Sock (or longer) Scissors Fabric / Buttons / Pins Mini Rubber Bands Glue Stick Hot Glue Gun

INSTRUCTIONS: Cut the top of the sock off, at the toe.

Put the toe aside. You will need it later.

DIY, STYLING + PHOTOGRAPHY BY @JOEYLEEELIZABETH

Turn the sock inside out and attach a rubber band, tightly. Turn the sock right side out.

Fill your sock with rice, making sure to pack it in until you have a nice, round base.

Attach a second rubber band to secure the rice and to create the first layer of your snowman.

Fill your sock with rice, to create the head. Secure with a rubber band.

Now it's time to decorate! Use whatever supplies you have n hand.

I used a piece of scrap-fabric, for the scarf. Sewing pins for the eyes and nose. And added a few buttons, attaching them with hot glue. You can also sew them on if you prefer.

Once your snowman has been decorated, make the cap by using the toe of your cut sock.

GETTING TO KNOW A MOMMY BLOGGER I have a lot of interests. My mind is constantly thinking of connecting, networking and usually has about five different blog post ideas all going on at once. My notepad app on my iPhone is my best friend and would be bursting at the seams if it wasn’t in digital form. My creativity flows during hot showers and long road-trip drives. I didn’t really think blogging was my thing until I became a Mama. I was immediately put into so many new situations. And then suddenly I realized I was in this new clique… This new clique called “Motherhood.” This new

clique had some of my old friends in it and some new; but I didn’t really get into this clique until I had Gentry Hudson, physically in my arms. All Moms know exactly what I’m talking about. Becoming a part of this thing called Motherhood, meeting new Moms, connecting, networking, having really weird questions, being put into new situations… THIS is what started my love for blogging. I suddenly had a voice that I felt needed to be heard, even if nobody was listening. But surprisingly, people were listening. I started receiving emails, text

messages and phone calls from my friends and acquaintances, thanking me for the latest blog post.

Letting me know that they felt something when they read my post. That is why I write… That is why I blog.

So what about you? Can you relate to how I felt? Maybe you have wanted to start a blog or have one, but you sometimes get stuck?

Here are some quick tips to help you with your Mommy blog and become an “Official Mommy Blogger.”

1. People will judge your “book” by its cover… Or in other words readers, brands, vendors and shops will judge your work based on the way your blog looks. Do you want to attract corporate sponsorships? Then your blog must have a corporate, clean look to attract that market.

2. Get really good at photography. Take free courses and webinars online.

Learn your camera inside and out. It also helps tremendously if you have a professional camera with professional editing software.

Adobe has Creative Cloud which allows you to use Photoshop for $10/mo. I have also seen bloggers get really good at iPhone photography and utilize paid apps (such as VSCO) to achieve some amazing blog images. One of the biggest lessons you can learn and what you should start off by learning is LIGHTING. 3. Which leads me to my next point - no post should be without an image. If you do not have an image, using images from sites like unsplash.com is a great tool to use. Want to use someone

locate the photographer, just play it safe and do not use it.

Paying for your images is also another great source if you have the extra cash to do that.

4. Your blog is your resume so treat it as such. Proof read for grammar errors about three to four times before you hit the publish button.

5. Before contacting a brand, find out more about that brand. Why are they in business? What are their values? How can you connect the dots with what their brand needs from you and what you can provide? Try to establish a connection with their brand prior to reaching out for a collaboration. Brands love to know they were already loved by you before you wanted to work with them.

6. Before looking for new and exciting brands to work with, what do you use currently?

What do you love to use on your child? Focus on those brands and shops first. This is how you start your “resume.”

Start reviewing products you already use. You don’t have to have a brand behind you in order to give your view point on a product; that is how most Mommy Bloggers start out. Review products without dealing with a brand to get a good list of experienced blog posts up on your blog to reference and fall back on.

And then get this… Let the brand you just reviewed, know about it! More times than not, you will just get an “aw that’s amazing! Thank you!” But then there are times when those brands will love it, and SHARE it. Or maybe even want to work with you again in the future!

And that, my Mamas, is pure blogging gold.

7. Which goes into the next tip... YOU need to share like crazy! Once you hit “publish” on your post, you need to share your post on all social media outlets. I do not allow Wordpress to do this for me. I like to curate my own personalized posts per platform. In addition, I also like to post at different times of the day so that it will pop up on my followers accounts throughout the day to help remind them if they forgot to click the link. Each platform also has a “best” time to post which I try to use that to my benefit as well.

8. Consistency. It is so easy to put your blog on the back burner, but don’t. If you are wanting to build a solid readership, they need to know what your blog will provide to them. Will you post daily? Will you post every other day? Once a week? Being consistent helps your followers and readers

know what to expect from your blog.

9. Seek out a community.

Make some friends on social media in a genuine way.

Connect with other likeminded Moms that share your interest. Know that one Mommy blogger that you secretly “stalk” and never say a word to? Reach out to her!

Comment and get to know her personally. Join some amazing blogging Facebook roups! One of them that I recommend is called “Blogging Boost.” When you keep a close-knit-tight group of girls on social media, it can help you in more ways than one. You all become each other’s cheerleaders and that is irreplaceable.

10. In this day and age anyone with a laptop and free WIFI can become a blogger.

That is why it is imperative for you to stay true to yourself. What tickles your fancy? Focus on THAT. Are you a fashionable Mama?

What about a Crunchy Mama? Or what about a mixture of those two? DO THAT. Find YOUR niche.

CRANBERRY & COCONUT MINI DONUTS

A

dd some festive flavor and color to your seasonal treat lineup with these bite sized and baked mini donuts. They're dressed in a tart ruby cranberry glaze and topped with a little unsweetened coconut for crunch and wintery appeal. Stack them on your favorite cake stand and serve alongside warm and toasty libations for your holiday entertaining this season.

Mini donuts dipped in a festive cranberry glaze and garnished with crunchy coconut are baked, not fried and are dairy free.

DONUTS

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 3/4 teaspoon salt 2 2/3 cups flour

1/4 cup coconut butter (regular butter can be used) 1/4 cup avocado oil (coconut or canola oil can be used) 1/2 cup powdered sugar 1/2 cup granulated sugar Zest from 1/2 an orange 2 large eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/3 cup chopped dried cranberries 1/3 cup finely chopped coconut

1 cup milk of choice (I use coconut) Unsweetened coconut flakes for garnish Mini donut pan lightly greased 1 piping bag

CRANBERRY GLAZE 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar 1 1/4 cup cranberries rinsed Juice from half a orange

DONUT INSTRUCTIONS Makes about 48-50 mini donuts

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

In the bowl of a stand mixer blend together oil, butter and sugars.

Add in eggs, orange zest and vanilla and mix until combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together remaining dry ingredients.

Pour a portion of the flour mixture into the egg and sugar mixture alternating into thirds with 1 cup of coconut milk, until completely combined.

Mix in coconut and cranberries until incorporated.

Pour the mixed batter into the corner of a 1gallon zip lock bag, cutting the corner with scissors.

Pipe the batter into the greased mini donut cavities filling only about halfway full.

Bake in the oven for 4-6 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

Remove from pan and transfer to a cooling rack.

CRANBERRY GLAZE INSTRUCTIONS

When your glaze is ready, it should be a thicker dipping consistency. If it seems too thick, add a splash of fresh squeezed orange juice (a little goes a long way) or a bit more cranberry, but be careful not to make it too thin.

Place cranberries and orange juice into a pot and cook on medium heat until they bubble and begin to break down.

The glaze should stick to your donuts without dripping.

Remove from heat and place cooked cranberries in a small blender or magic bullet.

Dunk your donuts face down into the glaze and top with unsweetened coconut.

Blend cranberries on high to smooth and set aside.

Allow the donut glaze to dry for at least 20 minutes before serving.

Place your powdered sugar in a glass bowl.

Store in a plastic container

Stir the blended cranberries into the powdered sugar 1 spoonful at a time, mixing thoroughly until incorporated.

Continue adding a small amount of cranberry to the powdered sugar until a glaze is formed.

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Wreath Bow (Custom or Premade) Wooden Letter of your choice Glitter in color of your choice Adhesive Spray Glue Stick Hot Glue Gun Piece of yarn/ribbon in a color that matches bow Backdrop that you won't mind getting messy

INSTRUCTIONS: Lay wreath down in front of you and decide where you want to put your bow. When it's in just the right spot, tie the bow, securing it onto the wreath.

Grab a piece or two of old newspaper, scrap cloth, cardboard, etc. to keep from getting glitter and adhesive everywhere. Place your letter onto the backdrop and spray the adhesive directly onto the letter.

Immediately sprinkle the glitter over your letter, then re-spray with the adhesive. This will ensure your glitter stays put.

Let your letter dry for 5 minutes.

Once dry, choose a spot to put your letter and then using a hot glue gun, apply the glue to the backside. Attach directly to the wreath. Allow letter to settle for 15 minutes to ensure it letter is secure to the wreath.

At the top of the wreath, attach your yarn or ribbon to the branches. Choose a length for your piece of yarn or ribbon, that willl work best in the space it will ultimately end up hanging.

Hang and enjoy!
