SUANNY DUGARTE
INTRODUCTION ABOUT ME
In 2007 my family and I went to Walt Disney World in Orlando for a holiday. While in the queue for an attraction, I remember taking into consideration my surroundings. I subconsciously had become immersed in the world of the Disney movie as we waited through the queue; every surface, every turn, every wall, was designed to submerge us into the animated film. This was the catalyst that allowed me to see interiors as more than just a volumetric space, but rather as a means of provoking human interaction. After high school I enrolled at NAIT in the Interior Design Technology Diploma program, and upon graduating entered the work force as a technologist. Working for two years at a furnishing manufacturer company I wanted to expand my knowledge. Thus, I applied to the Bachelor of Interior Design program at Humber College and graduated in April, 2020. Interiors are important aspects of daily living that evoke emotions. Human beings spend most of their days inside. Therefore, thought and consideration need to be evident in the design, not only to make the space functional, but also aesthetically pleasing. This allows spaces to feel comfortable and enjoyable, which in turn positively affects the lives of individuals. I wish to expand my knowledge of design while challenging my way of thinking creatively and finding solutions to design problems, making an impact in the way we live.
