Subiaco Football Club was deeply saddened by the news of three great Subi personnel passing during the 2019/2020 year. Life Member and Die-Hard Ron Jarvis passed away in early December 2020. Ron played 129 games for Subiaco (1952-1959) and captained the Club in 1955. He was described as a stubborn defender and a grand clubman. Jarvis was runner-up in the 1953 fairest-and-best award. Matt Barber, Subiaco’s fitness-guru passed away in October 2021. Under Peter German, Matt was key in leading Subiaco through their glory years, in a decade that produced four flags, nine topthree finishes and a host of AFL recruits.

The club and the wider-community was saddened by the passing of Jake Ryan in October 2021, after being struck by a train while running in Italy. Jake played 12 league games and 26 reserves games between 2004-2006 and was part of the WAFL Reserves Premiership winning team in 2005. Peter German coached Jake while at Subiaco from 2004 to 2006.

“He was the life of the party, he was outspoken, he was passionate, he was caring, he was popular,” he said. “When you think of Jake, you can’t help but have a smile on your face, how he lived his life (to the full),” said German. Our deepest sympathies go out to all three families and friends.
