A Club for local juniors to come and aspire to be like their heroes in Leigh Kitchin, Lachlan Delahunty and Ben Sokol. The Lions district have always created a memorable little league experience, and none more memorable than the opportunities received in season 2021. This season saw the continuance of the junior mascot initiative, an opportunity created by Subiaco FC, allowing one lucky little leaguer to front the pack as Kitch and the rest of his Lions run out on to Leederville Oval before bouncedown.

With Hilly taking a very well-deserved rest as little league coordinator in season 2021, Damon Barns eagerly stepped into the role and what a fantastic job he did. Being a current WAFC Game Development Officer, Damon’s experience and professionalism continued the strong the legacy that Subiaco FC is renowned for in terms of its game day little league experience. All seven of the local junior Clubs were represented during half time at least once throughout the 2021 WAFL season, with all of these being fulfilled by our very talented year 6 age groups. We also saw the implementation of a new initiative this year, with our very own local Starkick programs featuring in a curtain raiser leading into Subiaco’s round eight Family Fun Day Clash with Peel Thunder. The Subiaco district features two Starkick programs, run by Kingsway JFC and Sorrento Duncraig JFC. Starkick is an all-abilities football program aimed at providing an inclusive environment for footballers aged 5-17. A great opportunity for our local Starkickers, and a memorable one, I am sure!

Of course, the Little League experience is nothing without the support and endorsement of the Subiaco Football Club. To Peter Capes, Zac Acott, Kristian Dicton, Stuart Berryman, McKenzie Sheppard, and Teigan Freeman, thank you for creating such a welcoming and engaging game day environment.
