WELCOME
WELCOME TO SUBURBAN RESOURCE GUIDE FOR SENIORS IN PRINT A warm welcome to our very first issue of Suburban Resource Guide for Seniors in print. Our guide is devoted to active seniors in suburban Cook County, providing a gateway to community leisure and recreation resources available in over 120 suburbs of Chicago. Our purpose is to enhance the lives of seniors by strengthening the connection to their community. Our guide is designed to help access community resources which promote the health, safety and independence of local seniors. We provide seniors with leisure and recreation options, and cover a wide range of resources we believe are important and interesting to active seniors. By increasing the awareness of community resources, our hope is that every senior has access to, and benefits from the community in which they live. We hope the lives of seniors will be enriched by the resources found within these pages, and that their senior years will truly be golden. We hope you find our guide to be resourceful and easy to use, and we look forward to having you as a reader of our next issue! Sincerely, Donna Smith, Founder and President Suburban Resource Guide for Seniors Every effort has been made to include the correct and most up-to-date information as possible. However inaccuracies do occur, so we recommend our readers contact the organization to verify the information before venturing out to an event. All the resources in this guide and the most current information can be found on our website by visiting www.suburbanresourceguide.com.

MEDICAL LENDING CLOSETS Medical lending closets are a great alternative to purchasing expensive home medical equipment. Gently used medical equipment is rented or loaned to area residents on a short-term, temporary basis. Equipment typically includes wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, bath benches, commodes and toilet raisers. Medical equipment varies from each location and inventories change quickly, depending upon demand and donations. Contact your local lending closet for a listing of equipment available, deposits and fees, terms and restrictions, and loan qualifications. Closets are listed alphabetically by city.
