Work Experience Art Instructor: Drawn2Art, Los Altos, CA June 2014-June 2015 Taught fine art skills to students ages 4 and up, beginning with basic drawing fundamentals and moving up to advanced painting techniques. Managed a classroom of up to 12 kids at a time, with each working at their own age and skill level. In charge of reinforcing technique and breaking down difficult concepts into simple and straightforward instructions. Used creative and flexible strategies to adjust the curriculum according to individual needs. Art Instructor: Kalamandir Art School, Fremont, CA Summer: 2008, 2013, 2014 Taught art to children from ages 5-13. Classes included painting, drawing, and creative craft. Created monthly lesson plans for highly individualized projects and communicated with parents about their children’s progress.
Volunteering Editorial Cartoonist/Illustrator: Berkeley, CA February 2012 – April 2013 Coming up with a concept and illustrating weekly artwork for the Daily Californian, UC Berkeley’s student-run newspaper. Magazine Cover Design: KKNC, Sunnyvale, CA November 2009 Designed the concept and drew the cover for KKNC’s (a nonprofit community organization) annual magazine. Worked with a team that included graphic designers, marketing team, and the president of the organization. Intern: Cal CREATE, Berkeley, CA Spring 2011 Taught art to first graders at Oxford Elementary School’s after-school program as part of CREATE’s goal to bring social change through the medium of art. Designed an original syllabus with engaging, flexible projects that let the students engage their creativity.
