Money generated from lodging is supposed to help locals to learn. Climatic factors : - Rectangular form as recommended for warm and humid climates with walls of individual buildings will be oriented North and South to minimize heat gains. - The precipitation is very high so the roof will be pitched. Buildings should be shaded with deep overhangs, material should be with low U value. - Elevated Structures works best for this type of climate as it helps to reduce dampness in the interiors.

Emerson cup 2010 excellence award won Emerson cup 2010 excellence award in students category Task - “Report on How to reduce carbon footprint of your institute” –
The project was to reduce carbon footprint of college building which. A systematic and quantifiable
approach to was used for electricity, waste and fuel. Report link (pdf) - http://issuu.com/suchitat/docs/final_report-emerson_cup_2010-bnca
Site plan – Dr. B. N. college of Steel roof details Architecture
▪
While studying for M.Arch in Environmental Architecture at Dr. B. N College of Architecture, me and my classmates took up the task of evaluating the carbon footprint for our college building. Its located in campus of Maharshi Karve’s
Stree Shikshan Santha, Karvenagar, Pune. ▪
Report work contains environmental impact of each student and staff through carbon emission for travelling to the institute, building and campus electricity needs and waste management issues.
▪
Retrofitting measures were provided for each area which finally resulted into reduction of 45% co2 emission in transportation and 20%
reduction be fixing electricity
measures. Waste management solutions were given and all added into saving total 78.8 tones of carbon emission per year. 25
