The Importance of SchoolBased In-Service Training

The Department of Education (DepEd) emphasizes that the review of the K to 12 curriculum remains ongoing and the experience with Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) will be used to inform and enrich the curriculum. In this post pandemic situation, there is a need to continue enhancing the professional development of teachers. Teaching strategies also shall be one of the focuses on this INSET that the teachers must acquire as we anticipate challenges in the learning delivery to produce quality learners.

One provisions of R.A No.10533 otherwise known as The Basic Education Act of 2013 is to ensure that the enhanced basic education program meets the demand of quality teachers and school leaders, thus the DepEd in collaboration with the academe and other institutions shall conduct In-Service training. It aims to retain current DepEd teachers to meet the content and performance standards of the K to 12 Curriculum.

To ensure that learners have acquired necessary competencies, teachers must be rated using the Result-based Performance Monitoring System (RPMS) tool for it reflect the results of their performance. With this IPCRF must also be reviewed during this 5-day training.

This School-based Inservice training helped a lot in acquiring different pedagogical skills necessary in carrying out the job, upgrading teachers on different teaching strategies, working collaboratively with colleagues to review the design, selection, organization and use of effective diagnostic, formative and summative assessment strategies consistent with curriculum requirements, and many more.

Most importantly, the bond, the camaraderie among teachers and the good rapport being experienced continuously inculcated in ones pure heart where friendship never ends.
