Mentoring a preschooler is an experience that holds immense beauty. The unique bond formed between a mentor and a young child is one filled with wonder, growth, and endless possibilities. In the early stages of a child's life, mentoring becomes a transformative journey that highlights the beauty of shaping a young mind and nurturing their potential.

The beauty in mentoring a preschooler lies in the opportunity to witness the blossoming of curiosity and imagination. As mentors engage with young children, they encourage their innate sense of wonder, fostering an environment where questions are embraced, and creativity is celebrated. By nurturing their curiosity, mentors inspire a lifelong love for learning, empowering preschoolers to explore the world around them with enthusiasm and an open mind.

Mentoring a preschooler also entails cultivating essential life skills and character development. It is a time when values like empathy, kindness, and respect are instilled. Mentors have the privilege of guiding young children in understanding the importance of these virtues, helping them develop social skills and emotional intelligence. By modeling positive behavior and providing guidance, mentors shape the character of preschoolers and contribute to their growth as compassionate and responsible individuals.

Moreover, mentoring a preschooler allows for the formation of a deep and meaningful connection. The trust and bond established between mentor and child lay the foundation for a nurturing and supportive relationship. Mentors become advocates for their preschoolers, offering guidance, encouragement, and a safe space to express themselves. Through this connection, mentors have the power to inspire confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging in young children.

The potential to mold young brains, inspire curiosity, and develop important life skills is the joy of mentoring a preschooler, in conclusion. A mentor has the honor of seeing a child's growth and development, encouraging a love of learning, establishing values, and building a deep connection. A mentor has an incalculable positive influence on a preschooler's life and can pave the way for a future full of limitless opportunities. Being a preschooler's mentor is a unique experience that highlights the value of educating and empowering the most impressionable members of our society.

No. LXXIII; case of Mary, the Mother of Christ and our mother, who was assumed into heaven, body and soul, and who, from time to time, would make apparitions in bodily form. Any doubt about our resurrection should be laid to rest by this fact.

We just have to understand also that our resurrection is caused by the supernatural power of God who shares it with us precisely because we have been created in his image and likeness, sharers of his life and of his nature. We cannot expect to have our resurrection mainly by our own human powers alone. These human powers of ours should be fueled, so to speak, by God’s grace.

And so, we have to understand then that we can have our proper resurrection when we choose to die with Christ. It’s only with Christ that our death can lead to our resurrection.

St. Paul encapsulated this most wonderful truth of our faith when he said, “For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.” (Rom 6,5)

And so, we have every reason to think that we can live forever in Christ over whom death no longer has dominion. In spite of whatever, we have every reason to be happy and confident, as long as we are faithful to Christ.

farming especially the seed growers, chemical companies, landlords, compradors, but never those who do the backbreaking job of landtilling – the poor farmers!

So rich, yet so poor, Such is the paradox that is Mindanao where bounty and poverty meet, where hope and despair loom and where light and darkness fight.

How can these contradictions be resolved?

History tells us that wrongs and social injustices can only be rectified by the people themselves, that is, when they take responsibilities for their communities and take the future into their own hands. Only the people themselves can resolve these, but first, they should be empowered. No less than the World Bank came up with analysis recently disclosing that poverty is rooted in the powerlessness of the people. That to combat poverty, measures must be taken to empower them. The poor must build their own coalition, collectively mobilize their own energies and to have access and control over resources which are fast slipping through their fingers.

It is in this light that indeed cooperativism has come of age in Mindanao, aptly described as the land of the brave and the free!

The military said Zacaria was named the ISIS emir of Southeast Asia following the death of Owayda Benito Marahombsar or Abu Dar, then the region’s ISIS emir, who was killed by Army soldiers in Lanao del Sur in March 2019.

Dela Rosa said troops recovered a small cache of improvised explosive devices (IED) from one of the rooms of the apartment building the group rented in Barangay Bangon. He said Zacaria fought back by throwing a 60mm mortar improvised explosive device and two grenades at the raiding party led by Army Task Force Marawi.

An Army soldier identified as Private First Class Chrismar Tungpalal was reportedly wounded in the exchange of gunfire.

Dela Rosa said two M16 rifles were found in Zacaria’s hideout.

Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, chief of the Western Mindanao Command, said that during a followup operation at 6:07 a.m., another key leader of the Dawlah Islamiyah—Joharie Sandab a.k.a. Morsid—was killed when he resisted arrest.

Galido said Morsid was in charge of the group’s finance and logistics.

Morsid fired upon the combined AFP and PNP troopers serving a warrant of arrest using his M16 rifle and threw a hand grenade but did not explode, said the WestMinCom chief. Government troopers fired back, killing Morsid.

Drieza Liningding, a leader of the Marawi Consensus group, said they woke up Wednesday morning to the sight of Army soldiers backed by armored personnel tanks searching for militants in Barangay Bangon.

“The entire village of Bangon is on lockdown. There are soldiers everywhere,” Liningding said in a phone interview Wednesday morning.

Marawi Mayor Majul Gandamra said the lockdown was lifted by Wednesday noon after the army soldiers were satisfied that no companions of Zacaria was able to escape.

He asked Marawi residents to remain calm, adding that the Army and the police are on top of the situation.

Dela Rosa said they monitored the movements of Zacaria leaving the main group of militants two weeks ago after the clash in Marogong that resulted to the death of four militants.

He said from Marogong, they monitored Zacaria moving to Marawi City to rent a two-room apartment in Barangay Bangon where the military decided to arrest him.

“Our efforts were aided by former ISIS militants who helped us identity Zacaria,” Dela Rosa said.

Emano joined other officials in the roadshow, during which SBCorp offered loans to MSME owners ranging from PHP300,000 to PHP3 million without collaterals.

SBCorp is a government financial institution created in January 1991 under Republic Act 6977, or the Magna Carta for Small Enterprises, with the primary responsibility of implementing comprehensive policies and programs to assist MSMEs in all areas, “including but not limited to finance and information services; training and marketing.”

Meanwhile, Gov. Peter Unabia said business owners should transact with SBCorp since it has lower interest rates.

He also urged mayors in the province to strengthen the Negosyo Centers, a facility established by the Department of Trade and Industry to help emerging businesses.

“I advise mayors to appoint, not just designate, personnel whose sole job is to focus on helping business startups, and those who wish to expand their businesses,” the governor said. (PNA)

In December 2022, the Government of the Day filed eight bills seeking to establish the municipalities of Pahamudin, Kadayangan, Kabalukan, Northern Kabacan, Kapalawan, Malmar, Tugunan and Ligawasan.

The Government of the Day refers to the majority party in the Bangsamoro Parliament, which is dominated by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), the former rebel group that forged the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) with the Philippine Government in 2014 after 17 years of peace negotiations.

The CAB provides for the creation of a Bangsamoro region, which was realized following the plebiscites in January and February 2019 that ratified Republic Act 11054 or the Organic Law for the BARMM.

Arnado said the lack of municipalities for residents in the SGA has hindered their access to essential programs and services rendered by the Bangsamoro government and the municipal governments.

“If the bills are passed into law, the residents would have a functional, accountable and competent local government unit to cater to their dayto-day needs,” she said in a report from the Bangsamoro Parliament’s Public Information, Publication and Media Relations Division.

Member of Parliament Aida Silongan expressed hope the bills for the creation of the eight municipalities will be approved by the plenary before the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on October 30.

In this way, the plebiscite establishing the eight towns can be held simultaneously with the Barangay ang Sangguniang Kabataan polls, she added.

Silongan said that public consultations for the proposed measure have been conducted in some parts of North Cotabato.

Once the bills are enacted, the newly created municipalities will have their own local government units with elected officials who will be responsible for addressing the specific needs and concerns of their respective communities. “This network covers not only the farmers themselves but also extends to include manufacturers of farm equipment and chemicals, as well as firms that provide services to agribusinesses, such as logistics and financial services,” she said.

The food system, Villar said, incorporates the food marketing industries like food and fiber processors, wholesalers, retailers, and foodservice establishments that are responsible for bridging the gap between farms and consumers.

“Since the reopening of the economy in 2022, the food and beverage industry has been gradually recovering. In fact, the Department of Trade and Industry reported that business registrations hit a 10-year-high in 2022, with restaurants and mobile food services activities coming in as the second-highest number of new business registrations last year,” she explained.

Villar said the Covid-19 pandemic has reminded Filipinos about the significance of supporting the agricultural sector since local farmers play a vital role in ensuring food security during times of crisis.

Since the industry is among the pillars of the economy, she said a lot of sectors are coming out to support business owners engaged in food service.

Jr.

Abalos said the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Napolcom filed the cases for violation of Republic Act 3019 or the

Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act; RA 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act as amended; Revised Penal Code, in particular, Article 171 on Falsification, Article 183 on Perjury, Article 184 on False Testimony and Article 217 for Malversation of Public Property; and Presidential Decree No. 1829 or Obstruction of Justice were filed against the police officers before the Office of the Ombudsman on June 9.

“Aside from the criminal charges filed against these police officers, the Napolcom is conducting administrative proceedings. The Napolcom has completed its pre-charge investigation against the 48 PNP officers and members that appeared in the video and expects to issue its resolution after about 15 days,” Abalos said in a press briefing at DILG main office in Quezon City.

He explained that the filing of cases stemmed from the investigation by Napolcom and the PNP’s Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) on the 990-kg shabu haul worth PHP6.7 billion in Manila last year.

He explained that a “pre-charge investigation” is similar to a preliminary investigation under a fiscal.

“If the counter-affidavits of the respondents are found insufficient, the Napolcom shall proceed to file formal charges against them. The possible formal charges include grave misconduct, gross neglect of duty, serious irregularity in the performance of duty, conduct unbecoming of a police officer, and dishonesty, among others. The penalties include dismissal from service, forfeiture of benefits and disqualification from public office,’’ Abalos stressed.

The DILG chief clarified that these criminal cases were filed before the Office of the Ombudsman and the administrative case proceedings are now ongoing.

For his part, Bernardo stressed that the first step in their probe was based on the CCTV footage where the police officers claimed that two unnamed cohorts were involved in the alleged illegal drug deal.

With this claim, Bernardo said that PNP and the Napolcom decided to include the two others in the criminal case based on “conspiracy theory.”

Bernardo, however, did not divulge their names in observance of due process.

Last April, Abalos made public closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showing police officers allegedly attempting to pilfer 42 kilograms of the 990 kilograms of shabu seized.

Abalos said they are optimistic about the developments on the case, which aims to weed out the erring cops from the PNP and help clean the organization’s image.

Abalos also reported that on top of the criminal cases filed before the Ombudsman, administrative cases will also be filed against the erring police officials.

Among the administrative cases that would be filed are grave misconduct and grave neglect of duty -- both of which are punishable with dismissal from the police service and forfeiture of their benefits.

Mayo, who was tagged in the 990 kilos of shabu seized in Manila last year, was already deployed to Mindanao as punishment for alleged involvement in illegal drugs in 2016 but later returned as PDEG intelligence officer for Metro Manila. The governor said the humanitarian aid is a manifestation of a solid and good relationship between the two countries.

"This is done because of the good relationship between Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos of course with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and the Royal Family of the UAE," he said.

Lagman assured that the 50 tons of assorted food items would be distributed to the evacuees from areas affected by the ongoing unrest of Mayon Volcano.

"These goods will be accounted for, with the provincial social welfare and development (PSWDO) as the lead agency. Thank you DSWD for giving us the trust and confidence, that these goods will be given to the right people who need them," he said.

DSWD-Bicol regional director Norman Laurio, in a separate interview, said the five trucks carrying the 50 tons of assorted food items will all arrive late Tuesday.

Based on the manifesto, a box contains cooking oil, basmati rice, elbow pasta, flour, sugar, tuna, salt, tomato paste, milk powder, tea powder, dates and dry foul.

Laurio also said DSWDBicol is prepared to distribute additional family food packs and non-food items if needed.

Meanwhile, at least 122 applicants were hired on the spot during the Kalayaan Job Fair that coincided with the celebration of Independence Day on Monday at the SM City Mall of Legazpi.

Diosdado “ Dads” Raneses, Legazpi City Public Employment Services Office (PESO) chief, also said in an interview on Tuesday that 432 were near-hired while 285 job applicants have been referred to other participating agencies.

At least 14,161 job vacancies had been offered by some 80 international and local companies, including government agencies that participated in the job fair. (PNA) from page 3 consolidate all the reports and make proposals," Nabol said.

Skills...

Aside from the skills training, DTI-5 is also planning for a "Diskwento Caravan" to allow evacuees to access essential goods and prime commodities at reduced prices by bringing manufacturers and retailers closer to them.

"We will schedule the Diskwento Caravan, we are ready for that," he said.

Nabol said that based on their monitoring, all business owners and traders in Albay are compliant with the price freeze being implemented in the province. (PNA)

I still remember several lazy summer days, sitting in the blazing sun (shouldn't be done anymore of course!), eating a Popsicle, getting all sticky, and running away from the bees. Of course, while still in Germany, those old lazy summer days turned into lazy winter days too. Lazy days shaped and characterized my whole (especially professional) life until now.

Relaxation, meditation and reinvigoration are needed. Life, affected by the "burnout syndrome" needs to reanimate with energy. So let's rest for a while to acquire new energy. HAPPY VACATION DAYS!
