A modern country Bed and Breakfast establishment offering complete tranquillity and a luxurious country escape experience with class.

Two Dalton/Wartburg friends, Margie and Candace, together with Margie’s son Lance, took a trip to the KZN Midlands in 2019 and they loved it so much that they all moved to Nottingham Road in January 2020. It had long been Lance’s dream to work as a chef and, with Margie and Candace’s love of people, they decided to combine their skills and to take on the challenge of a new adventure. Margie and Candace each have three children, all of whom have grown up together and are good friends. The decision for Margie to leave the family farm in the care of her eldest son and start a Bed and Breakfast was made after Lance became a chef. He was determined to pursue his passion for food; growing it, preparing it and serving it and had enrolled at Jackie Cameron’s School of Food and Wine in Hilton in 2018.

Having gained from this valuable experience, he was ready to take on the challenge of establishing a top-notch experience with his family partners, and, when they found the right property, the deal was done!

Willow and Lily Bed and Breakfast on the Curry’s Post Road in Balgowan is home to beautiful decor, simplistic rooms, and fine finishes. The team took almost 18 months to renovate the buildings, restore what they could, and refresh every aspect of the property whilst striving to maintain the unique character, charm, and authenticity that they fell in love with. The result was better than they could have imagined, and Willow and Lily B&B has already attracted much interest in local tourism circles.

They are constantly finding new inspiration and love planning every detail over early morning coffee chats on the veranda overlooking the two dams which gave the property its former name, Twin Pools Lodge.

Besides the Bed and Breakfast, the team aims to host small intimate functions as well as the recently popularized micro-weddings. There is a “no children under the age of 12” policy in place on the property that guarantees total tranquillity for that special getaway that most adults so desperately need. Willow and Lily is a place to quietly retreat to and enjoy a lazy afternoon picnic under the rustling trees in the warm sun, or a wholesome delicious meal with friends and fine wine.

And then to retire to a room where comfort and quality are the two reasons you would return for another visit. Each en-suite room has its own outdoor seated area on the spacious wraparound Natal veranda. The property can host up to 14 guests and is fully fenced and totally secure with ample parking, 360-degree views and manicured gardens.
