ABOUT Bardon, 4065

The Agents

An inner suburb of Brisbane located approximately 4.5km west of the CBD, Bardon is located in the foothills on the eastern side of Mount Coot-tha, and is characterised by ridges separated by steep gullies. Some major streets generally follow the ridgelines, including Simpsons Road and Macgregor Terrace.

Alan Campbell, Principal 0414 777 338 Alan continues to forge a widespread reputation for his extremely high level of service, honesty, and expertise within the Real Estate industry. As a resident of the inner western and northern suburbs for nearly a decade, he proudly promotes the area as being a great place to live, work and play.

Bardon is a leafy suburb with views to the city and the bush land area of Mt Coot-tha. The suburb has undergone gentrification over the past decade with most of the old-style Queenslander and workers cottages being renovated and converted into modern dwellings. It’s elevated position, leafy outlook and close proximity to the city has fuelled solid growth in the area. While there are no trains going into the area, it’s adequately serviced by buses including the Maroon City Glider and the Great Circle Line. A small neighbourhood convenience shopping centre and various other shops and restaurants are located in and around Macgregor Terrace to service the local community with larger shops in nearby Ashgrove. The suburb of Bardon was originally known as 'Upper Paddington', until 1925 when it was defined and renamed by Ithaca Town Council after 'Bardon', the villa built by Joshua Jeays in 1863 and named for ‘Bardon Hill’ in his native Leicestershire, England. The house now forms part of the campus of St Joseph's Catholic Primary School. Bardon has a number of heritage-listed sites, including: Rainworth House at 7 Barton Street, the home of the explorer and statesman Augustus Charles Gregory; Bardon House at 41 The Drive, the home intended for Joshua Jeays, mayor and contractor; and Oogarding a substantial two storey villa at 100 Simpsons Road. The suburb is home to the Wests Panthers Rugby League Club, Wests Juniors Leagues Club (a rugby league club) and Brisbane Irish Rugby Football Club. These sports teams are located in Purtell Park. Bowman Park is home to the Bardon Latrobe (soccer) Football Club, one of the oldest football clubs in Brisbane, and the West Brisbane Cricket Club. The park, formerly known as the 'Cobbler's Flats', was named after prominent Queensland Labour politician, David Bowman (1860-1916) as were the adjacent David Avenue and Bowman Parade Local schools include St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Bardon State School on Simpsons Rd, Rainworth State School on Boundary Road and Ithaca Creek State School on Lugg Street. Median price $830,000, Annual capital growth 5.67%, Weekly median advertised rent $590
