Secrets Marquis Los Cabos
I
t was our first time to Cabos, and we were seeking a diverse range of resorts for different types of travelers. So we started with the adult-exclusive Secrets Marquis Los Cabos. Though we had seen previews online, nothing prepared us for the absolute WOW factor on approach. The architecture is absolutely divine; in fact, it was inspired by a story of celestial beings seeking paradise on earth. The open-air reception area is encompassed by a colossal arc cresting a towering waterfall. The sheer size of it completely dwarfs the front desk workers and the first thing you approach is a circle fountain of wings, left behind apparently by angels. In the lobby you encounter the stunning sculptures of those angels – a man and a woman -and when you follow the steps down to sea, you see them again in human form, content to remain grounded in their newfound home. Paradise found. There is more amazing art throughout the resort, but we were eager to explore our rooms. They did not disappoint either. All 235 suites are ocean-front with delightful vistas, and I
especially loved the massive whirlpool bath where you can soak and still view the sea. Secrets Marquis Los Cabos offers Unlimited-Luxury®, which means gourmet a la carte dining, 24/7 room service, premium beverages and deluxe amenities galore, all included. And you can also visit their sister resort, Dreams, nearby for additional dining options. They also have stand-alone luxury casitas with private dipping pools. Many of the foreign dignitaries who were to attend the upcoming G20 Conference would be staying in them. We thoroughly enjoyed luxe treatments in the full-service spa and the outdoor hot tubs, and though the waves are often too volatile for swimming, the infinity pools are so well-aligned with the water that you still feel as if you are one with the sea. Food, staff, and surroundings are exceptional throughout so it’s no wonder the angels decided to stay. (George Clooney’s beach house is right next door, but alas, he was not there at the time.)
