Coral gardens growing strong
Coral Restoration Foundation Curaçao is delighted to announce great success in growing staghorn and elkhorn corals and replanting them in their natural habitats. Visitors certified to dive could join them in tending these unique underwater nurseries through Ocean Encounters. Restoring the reefs and educating the public on protecting and preserving Curaçao’s precious natural ecosystem is their ongoing goal. The coral restoration project is an initiative of Ocean Encounters Curaçao and supported by the community, sponsors, volunteers, and Coral Restoration Foundation International. Unique art festival returns!
Sunday November 26, 2017, will mark the fourth consecutive year of the annual KLM Marathon, which is getting bigger and better all the time! Now it attracts participants from over 34 countries, with sporty events suitable for all ages and capabilities. Choose from full marathon, half marathon, 5K or 10K run or walk events for all kinds of family fun with trails winding through Curaçao’s most colorful attractions and gala parties throughout. Every second year, Art Foundation Curaçao holds an incredible festival to encourage artists to recreate the island’s colorful scenes, and some even paint while submerged underwater! Plein Air (outdoor) and Plein Eau (underwater) submissions in oils, pastels, and watercolors are judged for prizes, and artwork is available to the public for purchase. The event draws great crowds to view the creations, and they also host public art workshops for adults, teens, and children. In the last three years, Chobolobo has grown into the most visited attraction on Curaçao providing a local and authentic experience. New additions include the guided tours and the cocktail bar, creating an even more immersive experience.
