Amuse Sunset Restaurant Island Gourmet

Amuse Just Got Better Did you know that Amuse Bistro has a new sunset location? The popular Amuse Bistro once on the Palm Beach strip has moved to a surf front oasis and new home on the sunset side of the island just south of the airport. Now the views are just as stunning and superb as the food and service that made it so great!

Opened in 2010, Amuse Bistro, named for the French tradition of amuse bouche, which offers diners a special off-menu treat from the chef to “amuse their mouth,” quickly became famous for developing a unique twist on international fusion cuisine. However, their location soon became too small to handle the demand for reservations due to Chef Patrick van der Donk and his wife Ivette’s great hospitality and fare. So when the old Marandi/Arubaville location became available last June they jumped at the chance to start anew and relocate on a prime spot right on the sea. And though Chef Patrick might be biased when he describes it as “the most beautiful restaurant view on the island,” he’s not far off, as the sunsets over the sea are absolutely spectacular. Next, they renamed the spot Amuse Sunset Restaurant to reflect the view and redecorated to project a more refined, upscale finedining vibe and romantic atmosphere. The menu also evolved with creative additions including a unique vegetarian menu with delicious choices like deep-fried polenta with

sautéed mixed vegetables in a light spicy tomato sauce. But of course, they still serve the old favorites that brought people to their restaurant in the first place, like their melt-in-your-mouth short ribs and superb steak, plus their famous carte blanche offering three and five-course chef ’s surprise menus paired with fine wines. And you never know what the chef might create with those. Maybe lamb osso buco on saffron risotto? But whatever it is, the ingredients will be locally sourced whenever possible, and the presentation as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the palate. And there is now a new alfresco balcony for private parties of 25 people. The entire venue can be reserved for parties of up to 200 people – ideal for wedding receptions and corporate events. Amuse staff can also be hired to provide off-property catering for all kinds of special events as well. Amuse Sunset Restaurant is certainly a welcome addition to the island’s culinary scene, and we wish them the best of success in their lovely new location. !

A beautiful, modern website with the ability to book online and order ahead is also part of the new Amuse landscape. www.amusearuba.com 22
