St. Kitts Revisit A Luxurious Stopover
St.Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino.
It’s been a few years since I’d been to St. Kitts, and St. Kitts Marriott & Royal Beach Casino in particular. But since I had to fly out of there on the way back from Nevis, I thought it was the perfect time for a quick revisit. Upon arrival in the grand lobby, I realized I’d forgotten just how large this resort is – it’s like a small village unto itself ! The sprawling complex includes a huge casino, a championship golf course, a full- service spa, an expansive beach, three pools, and a choice of eight restaurants and two lounges. Plus, they have their own entertainment courtyard! There’s a lot to enjoy. But I did remember how much I loved snorkeling their house reef, which was still as inviting this time around. I also remembered much of the resort was mid-construction and refreshment when I was there last, as it was low season. Part of those projects included the creation of a brandnew swim-up pool bar cresting the sea. It’s finished now, and is absolutely fabulous. The room refurbishments were also obvious – more

color, comfort and modern amenities shone throughout. I had missed dining at La Cucina La Dolce Vita dining room last time, so this visit I met up with General Manager Jacques Hamou for a wonderful authentic Italian meal there. Mr. Hamou is an ex-pat Montrealer, well known to our hotel scene as the General Manger of Marriott Chateau Champlain for over a decade. After dinner he suggested I check out all the improvements in the casino, which I’m glad I did, since I won a surprising amount of money on one of the new slot machines with very little investment! Bonus! Alas, my revisit was too short, and after a refreshing dip in the lovely aqua sea, I was off to the airport the next morning. But I definitely want to return soon, especially now that they’re offering guests complimentary use of the nifty new GoPro HERO4 camera to help capture their stays in style.
