Sue Engelmann’s Guide to

Keeping It Local

WHY THE FOCUS ON KEEPING IT LOCAL? We know that we live in a very special place. Most locals and part-timers would also agree that part of what makes the area special is that we have very few chain stores or restaurants, and instead have an economy based largely on local businesses and business owners. This is fairly unique among Western mountain towns and resorts like ours. With that being said, I feel especially committed to encouraging my clients, customers, friends and colleagues to do whatever they can to keep their business as local this fall and winter. Of course, there are hundreds of businesses and restaurants in the Wood River Valley, each of them working hard to earn the patronage of locals and visitors to the valley. On the following page are four websites where you can find Wood River Valley businesses, restaurants and Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs).
