" Colonising new sight-line bank ", refers to Agrostis gigantea and not A. tenuis. Add the following species. Aethusa cynapium, rare. Anacamptis pyramidalis. A small colony near the road has one actually on the road verge, near Woodlands. (Orchis fuchsii and Ophrys apifera also nearby have not been so co-operative). Aster novi-belgii, Combs Ford, on a bank bordering an arable field. Ballota nigra. Cichorium intybus. One plant Badley " Plateau" and one at Woodlands, 1958. Lactuca serriola.

Trisetum flavescens. Silene conica introduced seed,capsule collected Icklingham, 2.7.54. Sown in garden, becoming an abundant weed by 1956. 19.3.56, 12 plants to bank on A45. and a large number (±300) of seeds sown broadcast. 13.6.56, six of the plants in flower and fruit. Single stems too much branched. One seedling. Fairly open Community on bank cut back in 1955. Papaver rhoeas ± two to each Square foot. Also Veronica hederifolia, Capsella bursapastoris, Equisetum arvense, Agropyron repens and Cirsium arvense were present. 13.3.57 ± 180 plants. 7.6.57, 300 + plants mostly large and well branched. 2.5.58, 700-800 plants virtually all dwarf and single-flowered. Pfirnt Community beginning to close in. Patches Trifolium repens occurs and contains no S. conica. Lupinus arboreus introduced.
