25, 27 and 31 July were not productive of many sightings and reduced the daily species average to 10¡7. There were, however, 21 species on view at one time or another during our holiday. Most of the observations were made in the vicinity of Framlingham with three main exceptions: the White Admiral was seen on 28 July at Northfield Wood Onehouse; the White-letter Hairstreak was seen at Northfield on 4 August; the Clouded Yellow female was amongst tufted vetch at Lindsey Tye (TL977463) on 4 August, in almost the same place as our male of 2004. This year we saw no Brown Argus, Small Heath or Wall Brown. Alasdair Aston Wake’s Cottage Selborne Hampshire GU4 3JH
