Fire Bug Pyrrhocoris apterus found at Gedgrave by Cathy Smith, 20/4/2019. A second population was found by Helen Norman in a nursery in Ipswich in September 2019. The colony at Gedgrave was also seen and photographed by Brenda Betteridge in October 2019. First Suffolk records since 1911 for this very rare species in Britain. It is frequent on the continent and may be spreading due to climate warming.
