“I have just completed the ten books suggested by yourselves in conjunction with Suffolk libraries. In fact I had already come across and read a couple of them, but have been greatly inspired and entertained by all of them. The two I found most thoughtprovoking were "The Salt Path" and "Wilding". I was also much affected by your recent piece on memories of Suffolk childhood. All of this underlined how much we have lost and how quickly the memories of that diversity can fade. Please keep on reminding us! Mary Thompson. Photo - Andy Rouse
“Really enjoyed the book. A story of hope, despair and Triumph” Sarah via instagram --“Sounds like a fun day, thanks for choosing The Salt Path” – Raynor Winn --“Really! Did they HAVE to starve as well as?” – Bev Rogers ---
“A thought provoking “journey” into societal issues as well as nature. Pulls at the heart strings and had me question issues around homelessness, generosity of spirit and faith. It becomes a lighter read as the progress on their personal journeys. Claire Rowan.”
“Loved Meadowland...we have an acre of wildflower meadow on a south facing slope, we put a bench at the top of the hill for walkers to admire the view...it's not unusual to see walkers queuing to sit down! “ - Forest Schools BhamCIC

Read it some time ago, I said last week and I’ll say it again, this gentleman’s books are a pleasure to read quite honestly – Finn Cam “I have read this book several times, it's so poetic in description that you feel you are right there, and it's been a terrific comfort in lockdown to disappear into this book. All John Lewis-Stempel's books are brilliant.”
I’ve read half of these and the others are on my TBR list. They are wonderful books in their own rights, but they are also useful as reference for evoking setting, its feel & sights smells & sounds. Miriam Thorpe Photo - Jon Hawkins
