Brazos Springs DPC makes treatment personal It’s a common cycle by now. We need a quick checkup, but don’t know if insurance will cover it. So we wind up, spending a ton of money we might not have, just to find out the whole might have not been necessary. Sometimes we feel as though if we could just cut out the middleman in the deal, things would look up. That’s what a new primary care clinic in Stafford aims to do. Their service is for your benefit, and nothing more. Brazos Springs Direct Primary Care is now open in Stafford, and from the moment I walked in, I felt a warmth about the office and about Dr. Esther Ngare, who owns the clinic. As she was talking about building a personal oneon-one relationship with her patients, it was with genuine passion and compassion for some of the red tape that’s necessary for simple care. In her eyes, it’s all about the patient, and that’s what Brazos Springs DPC is all about. They can take care of just about any ailment that you can think of. From a general wellness checkup to
physicals and management of chronic illnesses and ailments, they can provide the care Ngare says comprises about 80 percent of a person’s typical wellness needs. So top-of-the-line care is always at the forefront. But she wants it to be more than treatment, and for her patients to not feel as though coming in is a chore to check off a list. In order to help that mission, Ngare and Brazos Springs DPC believe that building a personal relationship beyond simply doctor/patient can be beneficial – at potentially even crucial – in creating a curated health treatment plan for anyone who walks in their doors in need of assistance. You can tell just from speaking with her that this caring is second nature, and that compassion is an innate part of her being and Brazos Springs DPC’s culture. So if you want top-notch health treatment that’s personal to you, come on in to Brazos Springs DPC.

CLASSIC CHEVROLET HONORED AS COMMUNITY PARTNER By Landan Kuhlmann LKuhlmann@fortbendstar.com A local car dealership has taken service beyond the car buying experience, and was recently recognized for their efforts. Fort Bend County nonprofit Men For Change presented Classic Chevrolet of Sugar Land with a trophy thanking them for their contributions to the organization’s efforts June 4. President Will Ross said the company has hosted various fundraisers and galas to help Men For Change achieve its mission of changing lives in Fort Bend County. “We just wanted to tell Ray and Classic Chevrolet ‘thank you’ for your efforts to help

Ray Aguilar was on hand to accept the award, and said the company is only too happy to help make a difference in young people’s lives. “There are so many organizations that do these things out of the goodness of their heart, and Men For Change is much the same. They always say they get paid from their heart. Everything they do, they do by volunteering their time,” Aguilar said. “I’m surprised to see my name on here, because this is Classic Chevrolet’s award. There’s a lot of things you can say about organizations, but I’m proud to work with these brothers. We work together in a family-oriented way, and I couldn’t do it without them.”
TOAST RESTAURANT COMING TO SUGAR LAND From Staff Reports Husband and wife team Renda and Tam Hoang, who earned destination status for their Viet-American take on sweet and savory bites at their firstborn restaurant, The Grove Do-nutz & Deli in Fort Bend, are moving into Sugar Land for their second course. The duo debuted Toast – a farm-to-table restaurant focusing on breakfast, lunch and brunch service –June 22. Located in The Crossing at Telfair (300 Promenade Way), the modern and airy space with seating for 50 indoors and 16 alfresco, incorporates industrial elements alongside warm pops of yellow in banquettes lining two walls of windows. “After six years operating The Grove and the launch of our food truck three years ago, we were ready for a new culinary adventure,” according to Tam Hoang. “With Toast, we are looking to bring a playful, but elevated, breakfast, brunch and lunch option to the Sugar Land area with a focus on locallysourced ingredients like meats from Ruffino in Bryan.” As with The Grove, diners can expect cross cultural influences in a menu that will feature an array of gourmet pancakes, specialty toasts, croissant donuts, build-your-

An extensive craft beer and mimosa program will round out the offerings. “It’s always exciting to work with creative, independent operators like the Hoangs,” said July 2019 H The Fort Bend Business Journal
their commercial real estate broker, Capital Retail Properties’ Jacob Weersing. “They not only add to the culinary diversity of the Sugar Land area, but are also representative of the melting pot of people and flavors that has made Houston one of the country’s most vibrant dining scenes.”
SUGAR LAND BUSINESS PARK TO HOUSE ADDITIONAL TENANTS From Staff Reports A well-known business park in Sugar Land will soon welcome two new tenants into the fold. Two new warehouses totaling more than 315,000 square feet will be built in the Sugar Land Business Park due to an agreement recently approved by the City Council with Sugar Land Industrial Properties, LLC. The buildings will be located on 17.86 acres in the City’s masterplanned industrial park, home to companies such as Schlumberger, Boise Cascade, Accredo Packaging and QuVa Pharma. “The city of Sugar Land’s industrial sector is tremendously important to our diversified economy and primary employment base,” city Economic
Development Director Elizabeth Huff said. “The extremely low vacancy rate within the business park is a testament to the success of our business park – and a reflection of a critical need for new light industrial space in our market in order to continue to grow our economy.” The developers behind the project, Johnson Development Associates, have previously worked with tenants such as Amazon, Walmart, The Home Depot, Rite Aid, Nestle Waters and Pepsi Bottling and have developed more than 22 million square feet of industrial space. “Johnson Development Associates, Inc., part of The Johnson Group, is excited to announce our planned investment in the city of Sugar Land,” said Industrial Division Regional Director Andy Halligan in a news release. “Coupled with

Sugar Land’s pro-business environment and strategic location, this development will provide a great option for companies that require new, highly functional Class-A industrial space.” According to Huff, the Office of Economic Development has made their best efforts to be proactive in capitalizing on opportunities to expand, construct or relocate businesses to the city to ensure Sugar Land remains an economic powerhouse within the Houston region. These proactive efforts, the city says, ensures a strong economy and support quality services for Sugar Land residents. “Our position as a financial leader and economic powerhouse is not just about attracting new and expanding primary employment in our community but about improving the quality of life,” Huff said.

BRAZOS SPRINGS
brings new frontier to Fort Bend medical care COVER STORY
BY LANDAN KUHLMANN It’s a common cycle by now. Someone needs a quick checkup, but does not know if insurance will cover it. So they go through the song and dance, spending money they don’t have, just to find out it might not have been necessary. Dr. Esther Ngare of Brazos Springs Direct Primary Care said it can also seem largely impersonal at times and that does not include the mysterious bills for services they were not even aware of. Ngare’s new primary care clinic now open in Stafford aims to eliminate the middleman and combine personal relationships with top of the line primary health care. Brazos Springs Direct Primary Care (DPC), under the guidance of Dr. Esther Ngare, recently opened its doors at 4103 S. Main St. in Stafford and is simplifying the way primary care is delivered by better connecting patients directly to their doctor. Brazos Springs DPC emphasizes quality primary medical care and patient experience, providing simplified, personalized and transparent pricing in healthcare. “It’s really about making direct meaningful contact between the patient and the physician, which is the way it should always be,” Dr. Ngare said. “We eliminate the middleman and avoid having a third party dictate the relationship between the patient and doctor.”
8
Dr. Esther Ngare in front of Brazos Springs Direct Primary Care at 4103 S. Main St. Ngare and the clinic aim to eliminate the middleman when it comes to treatment. Dr. Ngare and Brazos Springs offer a multitude of primary health care and health maintenance services for those ages 5 and above, such as general health checkups, sick visits, chronic disease management, care coordination with consultants, prevention & wellness and Immunizations. She also performs annual or necessary physicals, minor ambulatory procedures, gynecology, and Department of Transportation Physicals. Brazos Springs DPC also offers modified pricing for businesses and employers for their employees’ primary health care needs. Dr. Ngare is Board certified in Family Medicine and completed her Family Medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh McKeesport Family Medicine July 2019 H The Fort Bend Business Journal
Program. She has also practiced Urgent Care and Occupational Health in the Greater Pittsburgh area and more recently in the Greater Houston area. Being free of Insurance and other third-party constraints means that patients can meet their doctor both in and out of the office, including via secure video calls as well as home visits providing convenience while saving both valuable time and money by eliminating copay charges. And unless she’s out of town (when another physician covers for her), Dr. Ngare said she is always on call to respond to her patients including meeting at the office, their home or via secure video conferencing depending on what works
best for the clinical situation. It is the full gamut of care at Fort Bend County’s fingertips. “I am there when my patients need me to provide the necessary Primary care,” she said. And though it sounds like concierge practice, Dr. Ngare said there is one major difference. Brazos Springs DPC does not bill or accept any Insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. By eliminating this red tape, Dr. Ngare says she can focus more time and attention on her patients. Brazos Springs DPC members pay a monthly membership fee to access Dr. Ngare and all of Brazos Springs’ services which include competitively priced negotiated laboratory and imaging studies. Beyond treating disease, her passion is to form close partnerships with her patients to collaborate and promote individualized plans of care that address their unique health challenges. She seeks to team up with her patients to encourage and promote healthy lifestyles, and Brazos Springs DPC affords her the opportunity and environment to provide great unhurried primary care to her patients. What is not widely publicized and appreciated is that about 80 percent of a typical person’s health care needs can be met by a readily available primary care physician such as Dr. Ngare and Brazos Springs. “Our goal is to save patients money while simultaneously offering top of the line primary care” she said. Dr. Ngare said Brazos Springs does not currently partner with any hospitals in the area and members need to supplement their Primary Care membership with Inpatient Insurance to complete their health care coverage. Should a member be admitted to hospital, she is always available to speak with the hospital or Inpatient doctors treating her patients. For no extra charge, she also visits her patients one-on-one in the hospital if needed, to advocate for them, make sure

Esther Ngare is board certified in Family Medicine. that their individual health care needs are being properly taken care of and that all their caregivers are on the same page. “Our expectations of our care and our doctors have been beaten down for so long by the current third party run Health Care system that most people I talk to about DPC think it is too good to be true. DPC aims to prove them wrong and reclaim the lost doctor-patient relationship by providing the most impactful care of all, in an efficient and economic fashion,” she said. “The type of relationship DPC allows me to have with my patients, places me in the best professional position to combine their unique personal and health history and put together the best individual health plan of care.” CONTINUES

Individuals/Couples/Families: Enroll before July 31 to have your enrollment fees waived. EMPLOYERS/SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS: Ngare said Brazos Springs knows that motivated employees are important to success and treating them like family helps build loyalty, are aware of how challenging and expensive it is to offer affordable health care; and know that health insurance does not guarantee quality. She said Brazos Springs DPC membership is the way to provide affordable quality primary health care for a business’s employees. They offer a discount on both enrollment and monthly membership fees for businesses wishing to enroll five or more employees in their practice. For a low monthly fee, staff will have access to their personal doctor for all their primary care needs, the convenience of early morning or late afternoon appointments by arrangement to avoid missed work, in addition to all the other benefits of a Brazos Springs DPC membership. Ngare welcomed business owners to discuss how they can provide employees with complete health coverage for services beyond the scope of Brazos Springs DPC, which she said has partners that will gladly work to help reduce healthcare costs while providing quality health care. For more information or to arrange a staff presentation, business owners should complete their request for information from the Employers page on Brazos Springs DPC’s website.
For more information on the clinic and what it offers, readers can visit www.brazosspringsdpc.com or call the clinic at 281-208-7959.
Exam rooms such as this one provide the patient and Ngare or another physician a private space to hash out a well-curated plan for their health treatment. Ngare said she or another physician are always on call to assist residents who need immediate service.

have thrown their support behind the discussions. “Many young people don’t know such opportunities exist,” said George, whose daughter is a product of a community college. “Education is very close to my heart. I’m here to help because what you do is life-changing.” “Let’s take advantage of the tremendous manufacturing network we have here,” Scarcella added in a news release. “Let’s create a conduit for the students in this area to receive an excellent education and to be part of a competent, highly trained workforce for our companies.” The U.S. Department of Labor designated HCC as a registered apprenticeship sponsor this past March – making it the only institution in the Gulf Coast region to offer manufacturing apprenticeships in collaboration with local companies. “HCC Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence is poised to be a primary generator of manufacturing talent in the region,” HCC Southwest president Madeline Burillo-Hopkins said. Raju echoed the sentiment, saying a continuous flow of talent is necessary to keep any industry strong and that manufacturing is no different. And thanks to discussions such as last week’s session, HCC Southwest hopes to bring that vision to fruition. There will soon be monthly open houses at the manufacturing center’s building at 13622 Stafford Rd. “We always need to ensure a steady pipeline of talents. Upskilling is a huge need right now in manufacturing,” Raju said. “Our goal is to meet all the needs of the industry so they can be assured we will provide that pipeline. We will have the capabilities now to support their needs.”
