The old paradigm in the waterproof/breathable equation was one of compromise: a hard shell prioritized waterproofness but breathability always suffered, whereas a soft-shell placed a premium on breathability but couldn’t claim to be truly waterproof. In most parts of the world, that tradeoff is acceptable. In the cold, wet conditions of coastal British Columbia, compromise is a dirty word. At SUGOI, true innovation requires a combination of clear insight, pioneering design, and advanced materials. When we set out to engineer the world’s most breathable, waterproof cycling jacket, the final obstacle was finding a material that met our exacting demands. Our partnership with Polartec gave us exclusive access to NeoShell®, a remarkable new fabric that allowed us to create the jacket we’ve always wanted. Its secret is unprecedented breathability, courtesy of dynamic air exchange. Combine that with the waterproof performance of a hard shell and we have a new paradigm on our hands.
