What's the iTipsy? The iTipsy is a small device (pocket-sized) that fits into the bottom of an Apple device - iPhone, iPad, or iPod. It was created for people who like to consume an
alcoholic beverage from time to time, and who want to know what their BAC (blood alcohol content) is. Not only is this fun, and can make great entertainment, it can also save lives. It doesn't use any batteries, and doesn't require any special handbook to operate. You simply plug it into your iPhone, press the On button, wait 10 seconds, blow for 5 seconds, and your BAC will be displayed - along with a danger message or warning message if you've had too many drinks. It comes in 2 colors - Black and White and we have a version for iPhone4 (and prior) and iPhone5, so they will work on EVERY Apple device.
How is this Different? 1). There is NO consumer breathalyzer product like this - PERIOD. There are personal breathalyzers that you can purchase that use a different method to measure BAC. But they are inaccurate, run on batteries, are bulky, and EXPENSIVE. The iTipsy is NONE of these. 2). This device does not need to be calibrated, like a Police Officer's breathalyzer does every few months. 3). This device will not cost hundreds of dollars, like a traditional breathalyzer. 4). This doesn't take batteries - it runs on any iPhone, iPod, or iPad and uses practically no power to operate. 5). It's fast - it will show your BAC literally within seconds.
How does it Work? The iTipsy measure the blood alcohol content in the gas in your breath. When you turn it on, it heats up a metal plate for about 10 seconds. Once the plate is heated up, it's able to detect the contents of alcohol, and even measure how much is detected in the gas (based on a ratio) and provides a pretty darn accurate representation of your BAC. We've created the sensors to filter out other common smells and gases that might be in your breath. Such as coffee, tobacco, soda, etc. So the only element that the iTipsy detects is alcohol.
Why did we Create This? Not only did we create this product for our own personal use, we wanted to create a fun, sexy, "safe driving revolution" to encourage OF-AGE drinkers, and even under age drinkers to be SAFE when under the influence of alcohol.
