Sustainable Multifunctional Tower In San Francisco

This multi-use tower in San Francisco seeks to provide its urban users with the opportunity to connect with an experience of nature. The program for the tower consists of residences, offices, and a hotel. In order to accomplish this connection, several extensively planted spaces were developed throughout the project started with the plaza on the ground floor that connects the tower to the public realm. In the tower itself, several garden courtyards are interspersed vertically throughout the tower culminating of the top floor roof garden. Green

Around the context of this location is mostly occupied warehouses. The main consideration of the project was to provide the place alive and intercommunication of transportation across the city.

Site Plan The Garden has four different concepts. It designates four different direction. I was inspired the theme from oriental thought, which is four essential to live: Water, Wood, Earth, Gold.

Plans Designwise, the consideration was the big picture of San Francisco and the visual outlook with symbolism which connects to its function itself. Therefore, it shows tree shaped form itself, having gesture of inviting people to come in nature, but still urban glance at the same time.

Section The most competitive strength is the abstracted shaped double skin on both side. It will give people aware trees as well as invite them to this place. In accordance with it, people are able to meet the moment of shadow through the screen, which is dynamic shape of compositions.

Live & Work Housing In Seattle

ntervention

This is a hardware/second-hand store transformed from an old warehouse building located in between Fremont and Wallingford district. Wallingford used to be a factory district in the early 1900s, the neighborhood now consists of numerous furniture stores, housing, commercial, and a landfill site south to the site. In order to transform this building, while still maintaining the 'identity' of the neighborhood, we adopted the developmental attitude of "Do-it-Yourself" for our master plan. There are artists' studios, restaurants, Hardware store,Education Institutions, and Flea market. The local "Stoneway Hardware" store occupies and runs the hardware/second-hand store with the flea market located just next to it. The programs react to the neighborhood by having the flea market area that is surrounded by both hardware store and landfill site.

Mostly, there are Commercials in the left direction, and residentials in the right direction. This Work and Live Housing is directly connected to neighborhood context. It is located in the north-east corner, providing peopleâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s needs who are local artists, amateur people who are interested in making their one things, or other people who want to have a space to live and work together.

PNWB Building Massing Develpment The intervention in the Pacific Northwest Ballet building (PNWB) on the north-east corner will provide housings and shared studios for both local artists and Stoneway Hardware managers. They will produce goods/artwork that can be either displayed or sell in the flea market.

South Section A truss is over 13ft tall, which is possible to construct more floors. Rather remaining that much height as blank, I added a floor to have more housing on top level. Therefore, there will be private housing, comparing to other two floors.

The project consists of 4 main forces which will contribute to the design process: External forces, adjacent forces, internal forces, and design forces. First, the external forces analysis the city of Portland context and urban fabric. This also includes the history and the antiquity of the preserved area. The second force is the adjacent forces, which deals with the site configuration, the immediate site analysis of nearby contexts and the influence of the surround climate and environment. The internal forces is the pedagogical program which will inspired the arrangement and the organization of the programs, to create a successful design of balance spaces and efficiently functioned by the architecture and how the design interact and response to other forces.

Zoning This project has been divided into four major zones, and each zone is independent from one another within the fluctuation of thermal loads related to the organizations of programs. The diagrams above showing the four different zones according to the following programs. Public spaces of the Music school, the interior circulations, the Auditorium, and the library.

Garden on the roof. Public accessible place. People are able to use this place as a way of taking a rest, playing, gathering together and etc.

At the basement floor, there is Bamboo plants in the Atrium along practice rooms for buffer zone purpose, away from public area.

WSU Design Studio Project Spring 2012 Modern House

Prefabricated House 4

odern House This is a modern prefabricated house addressing the functions of living featuring wather storage and heating cooling unit. Total area of the house should not exceed 900 sq ft. Lot size is 2,500feet. The house must be transportable by truck and assemble with ease. All sizes of wall, roof segments less than 8x12, structural components can be as long as 12ft.
