SANTI VISALLI: ICONS
For forty years a photographer of the world’s most sought-after personalities, Santi Visalli has helped to define American visual culture at home and abroad. Visalli’s photographs have appeared in the most important books, magazines and newspapers of the day. He has thirteen volumes to his credit, hundreds of magazine photos, X covers, and thousands of iconic faces, recognizable cityscapes, and scenic shots. This exhibition presents a select portion of Visalli’s forty-year career. In each work, the extraordinary world of celebrities is rendered accessible, even intimate. Visalli’s portraits both humanize and glamorize. They prove that a little poetry and a lot of technical finesse turn photojournalism into fine art.
