ADAPTABILITY FRAME + GENERIC SPACE (BERNARD LEUPEN, 2006)
MODULARITY
SCENARIO BUFFERING (STEWART BRAND, 1995)
As structure is to interpretation, as competence is to performance, frame will be to generic space. The adaptability of the space depends on its ability to provide possibility of change and to accomodate it.
One possible strategy to integrate flexibility into the design process is to preddict several scenarios with different plausabilities so that the initial programme turns into a more thorough idea of principles and guidelines. The result of this action should contemplate what were initially unpredicted situations in order to better respond to the unpredictable.
The degree to which a system's components may be separated and recombined. modularity can refer to the construction of an object by joining together standardized units to form larger compositions, and/or to the use of a module as a standardized unit of measurement and proportion.

Cellophane House Architects KieranTimberlake of Philadelphia used this structural framing to create Cellophane House ,T-slotted aluminum framing served as the structural framework to which other building elements were swiftly attached. Just as the elements were assembled easily, so were they disassembled easily and stored for future redeployment, preserving the energy embodied in the house materials. Offering the most extensive range of profiles, connectors and accessories on the market, its unique T-slot design is specially engineered to provide high strength-to-weight ratios, fast assembly, easy reconfiguration and superior fit and finish. Plus, the system’s bolt-together design saves significant design and assembly time.

REHABILITATION RESORT | DEAD SEA TTHE NOVELTY OF THE DEAD SEA BEING THE LOWEST EMERGED POINT ON EARTH GIVES IT THE POTENTIALS TO BE AN ANSWER FOR ALL CONCERNS BY ALLOWING US TO BE ONE WITH NATURE. IN THIS STUDIO WE WERE ASKED TO DESIGN A RESORT IN THE DEAD SEA. CONSIDERING THE LOCATION CHARACTERISTICS, I DECIDED TO DESIGN A RESORT FOR BOTH REHABILITATION USE AND RECREATION USE. THE CHALLENGE WAS TO PROVIDE DIFFERENT KINDS OF SERVICES TO THE FULLEST AT ONE PLACE, BECAUSE OF THE THREE TYPES OF DEAD SEA WATER TREATMENTS AND DIFFERENT TYPES OF USERS. MOUNT NEBO MOTEL | MADABA NEAR AN ELEVATED RIDGE IN JORDAN, APPROXIMATELY 817 METRES (2,680 FT) ABOVE SEA LEVEL, MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE AS THE PLACE WHERE MOSES WAS GRANTED A VIEW OF THE PROMISED LAND, NEXT TO THE REMAINS OF A BYZANTINE CHURCH AND MONASTERY. WE WERE ASKED TO DESIGN A MOTEL FOR TOURISTS. A BUILDING THAT OPENS UP A DIALOGUE WITH THE SURROUNDINGS WAS DESIGNED TO EVOKE THE COMBINATION BETWEEN THE RICH HISTORY AND THE STUNNING NATURE OF THE SITE. LOCATION : MOUNT NEBO | MADABA
OPENING UP A DIALOGE WITH THE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT (NATURE AND HISTORY).
HISTORY DEFINED BY A MAIN AXIS THAT WORKS AS A DYNAMIC SPACE OF INTERACTION BETWEEN THE MASSES AND AS A MAIN CIRCULATION PAATH. NATURE DEFINED BY HORIZONTAL AXISES OF HANGING GARDENS AND VARIETY OF GREENERY. PROVIDING THE MAXIMUM INDIRECT VIEW, MAKING THE VISITOR CURIOUS TO EXPLORE WHATS NEXT AND WHATS SURROUNDING.

THE TWO PROPOSED TOURS FOLLOW A CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER, CHARACTERIZED BY THE BREAK BETWEEN THE DESTRUCTION OF THE CITY BY SEVERAL EARTHQUAKES AROUND 750 AD, AND ITS REBIRTH IN THE LATE 19TH CENTURY WHEN HUNDREDS OF CIRCASSIANS SETTLED IN AMMAN DURING THEIR EXODUS.THESE TOURS FOCUS SPECIFICALLY ON THE EVOLUTION OF THE CITY AFTER 1921, WHEN IT WAS SELECTED BY KING ABDULLAH I AS THE NEWLY CREATED EMIRATE OF TRANSJORDAN’S CAPITAL.

Character-defining Features //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// The Architecture in Amman in the 1940s and 1950s emphasizes the horizontal lines by the use of pure forms and shapes. Pay attention to the railings, windows and doors that combine circles and lines (1), the glazed galleries (2), the use of geometric shapes in decorative details (3), the use of blinds (4), and the relationship between the street and the garden (5).
