What is memorabilia? Is valued objects and their connections with history, culture or entertainment like: Posters, Photographs, movie memories. They can also be family memories like travel tickets, holiday photographs, photo album, video tapes, voice recordings or even your family tree. Artists who have used memories in their work: There are a few artists who use memories in their work like: Christian Boltanski and Dan Colen This is one of Christian Boltanski famous work’s. It involves his family tree but he has modernized it to make it look more new in the year we live in. I also have done a visual representation of memorabilia.

This is a piece of art work by Dan Colen .I really like his representation of himself as he uses photographs, tickets

What are Alien Encounters? A encounter with a alien in some sort of way including seeing aliens or artifacts left by aliens which produce some sort of evidence to believing that they do exist. Artists who use alien encounters or artifacts in their work: I have not found any specific artists but I have found a film director who uses props that are related to aliens. Like for example the film et it showed different prospects of alien encounters and told the story of a boy meeting a alien which can be referred to a encounter. Similar films like Paul shows the experience of two geek nerd who encounter a alien on their way.

This is area 51 it shows a alien encounter which happen in America.

What is a changing landscape? The landscape is continually changing under the influence of many different forces. Natural change happens as a result of climatic and geological processes, and the migration of animals and plants. The landscape is also shaped by human activities such as agriculture, industry, leisure, and forest management, all of which are strongly influenced by social, economic and political factors. Artists who use changing landscapes in there work: •  Alan Ingham •  Tim Freeman •  Chris Chalk

What is travelling? Travel is the movement of people or objects(such as airplanes, boats, trains and other conveyances) between relatively distant geographical locations. Artists who use travelling as a part of their work: •  Guillermo kuitca •  Alighiero Boetti •  Lordly Rodriguez •  Joyce Kozloff Guillermo Kuitca looks upon maps as metaphors for human relationships. He routinely uses maps of individual and communal spaces as starting points for his paintings. Over the years, Kuitca’s has incorporated maps of all kinds into his work including floor plans for houses, stadiums, apartments, and prisons; seating arrangements of theaters; street plans of cities; and even family trees or genealogical charts into his work. Although Alighiero Boetti had no formal art training, he became one of Italy’s most celebrated contemporary artists. Throughout his artistic career, Boetti focused much of his work on revealing the absurdity of imposing abstract human concepts upon the natural world. This impulse is evident in his best-known series titled "Territori Occupati' (Occupied Territories) which consists of a number of woven world maps. Using mostly pen and ink, Lordly Rodriguez redraws existing maps in order to create imaginary compositions that appear both familiar and strange at the same time. His maps typically consist of misplaced cities and fictional states alongside recognizable landmarks and familiar sites. In reading these images, the viewer must suspend the popular notion of a map as an accurate and factual document (until proven otherwise). Joyce Kozloff became widely recognized in the 1970's as a leader of the Pattern and Decoration and Feminist movements. Although originally known as a painter, much of Kozloff’s work in the 1980s involved the construction of large mosaic and ceramic tile public art installations for public transportation facilities in cities across the U.S.

On the trip I went to I discovered a lot of familiar things that would relatively be relevant to the topics I am researching like the picture of the gherkin which links to changing landscapes because before it was built the place in which it resides in would definitely be changing at the time so some of the pictures I took are related to the topic changing landscapes. The last picture I took shows a door and graffiti on it now if this was 10 years before there would be no graffiti as it would not have been introduced at the time, so these pictures show the landscape and how it is involving even now. Other pictures like the trees and buildings have changed during time because technology has proved to be useful.

We went to a lot of galleries and took a lot of pictures about different themes like encounters of nature, people, poster prints animals and insects. Although I did not find anything on my particular topic I did get inspiration to what my final piece could be and also think about more artists who experiment in maps. On the trip I found artists who use maps like Joyce Kozloff , Guillermo kuitca ,Alighiero Boetti, Lordly Rodriguez. This did make me want to research more into the topic I wanted to use for my final piece so I had to find more about maps and how it could be linked with artists who use maps.
