Creative Challenges: Session 4
Bridges This week during Creative Challenges Camp, students are learning about bridges. On Monday, students participated in a straw and twist-tie bridge challenge to learn about the basic structure of bridges. On Tuesday, the campers went on a field trip to Roosevelt Island. The class learned that Roosevelt bridge is a type of beam bridge. The campers were able to hike to a spot where the bridge passes over the island. On Tuesday afternoon, the class made a life-sized game board on the playground where they played "Bridge to Success", complete with giant dice! On Wednesday, the campers learned about what an arch bridge was, why it is beneficial, and how to make one. They first challenged themselves to build an arch bridge using legos and then in the afternoon they built an arch bridge using a deck of cards! It was very challenging, but the campers came up with some great creations!
