We built this catalog on the previous one, so not only do you get all the 3,000-plus 1911 products you’re used to finding in the book, you’ll see dozens of new items we’ve found for you. We think we’ve got just about anything and everything you might need for working on or building these extremely popular firearms. Really an astonishing assortment of the very best in our entire industry.

As before, we’ve had to leave out cleaning accessories and most of the range gear, which you’re going to definitely need. We just ran out of space, and we really wanted to focus on as many 1911-specific products as we could. So, for the stuff you can’t find here, please go on the web at brownells.com or look in Catalog #64, the current edition of our “Big Book” because it will be there.

We’ve continued the Dream Gun section to show you actual guns that have been built, with a listing of the parts used in the project, so you can do it too. We’ve added some more really cool guns this time, too, including new examples from two much-respected custom makers: Nighthawk Custom and Wilson Combat, plus another by one of the great guys with us, Tony Barnes. And we just had to bring back the Ed Brown “Classic Custom” from last year’s catalog. The first Dream Gun you’ll see (on page 2), by Lynn Freshly, is worthy of a little extra chat.

Back last May we ran a contest on Facebook inviting folks to send us pictures of 1911s they’d built using at least eight parts purchased from Brownells. Lynn’s gun was the winner. It’s extra special because he built it as a graduation present for his son, Seth, who graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2009. The gun stayed in Dad’s safekeeping during Seth’s deployment to Afghanistan. Seth is back home safe and reunited with his pistol.

We hope you spend some time with these great pistol photos and parts lists. They’re designed to give you – the table-top hobbyist or pro – ideas you can use in your next 1911 restoration or customizing project. All the parts and tools you need are packed into this catalog. On the COver: The elegantly engraved and inlayed 1911 Colt, Series 70 or earlier, was created by Master Engraver John Barraclough, a member of the Firearms Engravers Guild of America. The grips are cape buffalo with a multi-gold three-flower inlay. The remainder of the inlays are gold, with gold-plated highlights including engraved screw heads and pins, barrel bushing, and hammer.
