President’s Message
The holiday season is almost here. This is a great time to share some time with family and friends. There are so many activities going on in our community that I could never list them all. Almost every club is celebrating the holiday season with a party of some sort. Some are at our community centers, some at The Summit and some off site but all will be a time for club members to enjoy the company of each other. This year there are two community sponsored New Year’s Eve parties. There are holiday shows at the Starbright Theater including our own Musicmakers, Silvertones, and The Sun City Dance Company. There is an abundant amount of talent in our community as evidenced by our Theater Club performing the musical, Chicago. Wow, it was an outstanding show and Beth and I are already looking forward to their next production.
Speaking of parties, there have been approximately 20 new Neighborhood Watch groups started in the last two months with more being talked about each week. Several of the new as well as the existing Neighborhood Watches have been having “block” parties. What a great way to meet one’s neighbors. Whether or not you have a party or even a Watch on your street, I would encourage you to go meet your neighbors. During this holiday season, I would ask that every resident go wish at least five of your neighbors a “Happy Holiday.” Our community gets stronger and stronger the more that we get to know each other. I would ask that all of us try to meet at least one new person on our block. If there is someone who is alone, homebound, or just shy, make an effort to include them in your visits this holiday season.
Have you been to The Summit or Tavern at the Falls lately? Residents can now earn loyalty points for eating at these two community restaurants. I have already earned and redeemed enough points to get two meals. Not only are they both open their normal hours but they have special events weekly. The Summit has Monday Night Football, Sunday Brunch, Golden Knight Watch parties, Happy Hours, and Jazz nights to name but a few. Look in the Link as there is something going on at The Summit for residents to enjoy almost every day or at least four times per week. Many residents are having lunch at The Summit and then playing cards there either before or after eating. Clubs (formal and informal) are meeting there for both breakfast and lunch. The setting is very conducive to meetings especially the “back” room which can be reserved and closed Dick Clark, President, off to provide privacy for meetings. Sun City Summerlin Be Happy. Be Safe. Be Kind to Others. Be Board of Directors Friendly and Be Thankful.
