Fashionand Style! Faraz with the photographer
The cold, dreary days of winter are almost behind us. Hello Spring and see you soon summer! With the days getting longer and warmer it is time to stow away your woollies, pack away your pashminas and make space in your cupboards for the quintessential summer lawn. While the full frenzy of summer is still yet to be upon us, it will never hurt the modern fashionista to prepare herself for the blistering summer days. For we all know that glamour and style will always help you retain your sanity in even the most stressful of times! 10 sunday plus March 10, 2013
Maintaining one’s aura of sophistication in the trying summer months is no easy feat. It requires good knowledge of hues, tones and colour palettes and what cuts would suit your body structure to best reflect your personal style statement. It is obvious to say that any summer cupboard should be amply stocked with ensembles of light shades and subtle hues. White will always be a sure bet in the hot summer days but that does not mean that one should shy away from the turquoises, earth greens or salmon pinks. And always remember that when in doubt, wear red! This is all that I kept in mind when designing by line for Crescent Lawn this season: it is a fresh breather from those heavy clouded lawn prints to minimalist’s prints.

interview As the days leading to summer start becoming longer you will find sleeve lengths becoming shorter. Go sleevless or three quarter – avoid the half sleeve at all costs. While straight trousers will always be in vogue, palazzo pants are the new hot summer trend, providing the airiness and comfort in the scorching heat while allowing you the ease to sashay through those afternoon lunch and high tea engagements in great style! Silhouettes are straighter and hemlines have gone up. But please ladies don’t go for extremely short shirts and always and always stay away from patyala shalwars! They are a fashion disaster! Experiment by staying in between short shirt and flowy silhouettes – as seen on superstar Karsima Kapoor for my lawn this year.
All discerning fashion divas know that even though lawn is the crown jewel of a lady’s summer wardrobe it is not the only fabric that one will find there. One is spoiled for choice when you can wear outfits made from pure chiffon, specialized jacquard weaves, chicken kari and the always sensuous satin – or integrate all textures in one stitched outfit,. My lawn collection includes combinations of different fabrics, embroideries and embellishments which could help achieve this. As the summer sun becomes foreboding, all it will take for a lady to look her best is to dress smart and look sharp. For in the words of fashion icon Coco Chanel, fashion changes but style endures. So make sure this summer you beat the heat and dress to impress.
