How would you define a well-designed kitchen? When planning a kitchen, great attention to detail from the outset is a must. Start by considering the kitchen space and noting down all the features of your dream kitchen. You can include more intangible ideas on the list that your kitchen architect can assist with, such as mixed materials, cabinetry, different countertop finishes, and so on. Designing a kitchen is not just about working out a kitchen layout that fits the space – kitchen planning needs to run around how you use the room too.

What is your company’s design philosophy/approach?

Modern, minimalist European design.

What elements should every kitchen include and why?

Tinted glass cabinetry with hidden LED lighting is a must-have. Matt finishes with some mirror elements paired with stone worktops and splashbacks will give the space a modern finish.

How do you go about creating a timeless kitchen? Duco spray or imported acrylic door and drawer front finishes along with integrated appliances create a distinctly transitional look. This style has a timeless quality because it lands somewhere between traditional and modern, allowing it to stand the test of time.

What is your favourite current kitchen trend? We’re seeing a mix of contemporary and modern kitchens, both using a mixture of niche and feature wall design details, such as mirror, glass, stone and metal, together with glass display cabinets illuminated with integrated LED lighting. Islands will not go away and are still very popular and will continue to be because they are great for practical reasons and also provide the perfect place to socialise.

Awell-designed kitchen … must be functional. It’s important to consider the workflow, storage, quality of the hardware and the colour palette that complements the kitchen tops, cabinetry and drawers.

Our company’s design approach … is to provide products that are functional, competitively priced and aesthetically pleasing in accordance with current market trends.

Every kitchen needs a … workspace with easy access to cookware and with ample, well-organised food and utensil storage. There must be a flow from the cooking and prepping areas to the serving, cleaning and even drying areas. The placement of sinks is an important consideration when designing a kitchen.

Our advice for home owners working on a kitchen renovation is ... to create a scheme and plan for your kitchen that covers everything, from the materials you want to include to the storage you need and the work areas you would like to use.

Once you have decided on your colour palette … source your sinks and taps first and move outwards.

Budget for your kitchen by … prioritising quality hardware. If you have doubts, consult suppliers to ensure your hardware is fit for purpose.

Our favourite kitchen trend … is the butler or apron sink, especially in a farm-style kitchen. Quartz kitchen sinks add a luxurious look and come in a range of colours and styles. You can achieve a timeless kitchen design by … designing around form and functionality and using long-wearing materials.
