Local lawyers fight for their neighbors
From Staff Reports
Since 1956, Casale, Bonner, Hillman & Southard P.C., located at 331 Elmira Street in Williamsport, is proud of their track record of hiring local lawyers to represent local clients. “We have done the same thing for a long time,” said Bradley S. Hillman, a founding partner with the law firm.
The law firm works with personal injury, family law, estate planning and criminal cases.
Brett J. Southard, also a founding partner, said, “We can help most areas of your life that require legal assistance. Our lawyers have the experience and passion to defend you aggressively and at a fair price.”
The firm is adept at working with clients on divorce proceedings, child custody agreements, adoptions, vehicle accident lawsuits, workers’ compensation, wills/trusts and advance healthcare directives, plus much more.
“Our team can provide the counsel you need and deserve,” said Hillman.
The firm is particularly proud of the feedback they’ve gotten from their clients. One critiqued the firm on their website saying, “If you are looking for a Philadelphia caliber attorney, with a proactive no fail mindset….attorney Bret Southard is the one you need on your side.”
In addition to their work with clients, the firm also prides itself on its community outreach. Their community engagement has included work with the Williamsport Lycoming Chamber of Commerce, Williamsport/Newberry Lions Club, Williamsport Area High School and Odyssey of the Mind.

Riverside Roadhouse and Campground ‘a small city’ in summer
By MARK MARONEY mmaroney@sungazette.com
Two mostly undiscovered gems exist in the borough of Montgomery.
The first, Riverside Roadhouse and Campground, 125 S. Main St., is a full service campground with a restaurant that features a remodeled bar and an award-winning chef, Winston Blick, who specializes in delivering farm-totable dishes.
Then there is Montgomery Brews and Barrels, 34 Montgomery St., a distributor of beer, beverages and snacks with the familiar red, white and blue LED sign in the front.
These are owned and operated by business entrepreneurs Tina and Devin O’Rourke who, along with their four children, live on a farm near Elimsport, just a couple of miles from the borough, and part of the reason why their places are so special.
The campground, since they took ownership in late June 2018, is a completely restored facility.
“We did a massive remodeling,” Devin said, adding that the restoration included an outdoor deck to dine or have a refreshing drink while watching the gentle current of the West Branch of the Susquehanna River flow by. The patio, on most weekends, offers a place to listen to and dance to the live music from bands that are brought in for the customers free of charge to perform on stage.
Inside, the bar, which has been remodeled with walnut and curly maple, has enough room to seat 20 for dinner or drinks.
“In summer, it’s a small city,” Devin said of the campground, where the sights and sounds of families enjoying the evening atmosphere nestled amongst the trees can be seen and heard.
As for the distributorship, the couple opened it in July 2022. Today, it is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
“We always wanted to open a distributorship,” Devin said, adding that Montgomery Beverage was always a staple business in the community. Montgomery Beverage logos could be seen on softball teams and Little
League players’ uniforms.
The O’Rourkes said they purchased the business and shut it down for a month for a complete remodeling.
“We wanted to make it bright, clean and open,” he said.
Moreover, the couple wanted to make it attract customers — like a moth to a light — so they wanted a flashy frontage — Vegas-style.
That’s when they had the idea of a LED light in the front that could be programmed for various themes keeping it patriotic and red, white and blue.
Inside, unlike distributorships of older times, the floor plan is open and bright.
“Inviting and easy to move around in,” Devin added. So any legitimate aged customer — from older to younger — can feel at ease and not have someone on their backs in line.
“Easy to shop in,” he said, adding “with competitive pricing . . . as there are few distributors in the area.”
Another plus is the customer-friendly staff, who are instructed to be and hired with the intention to be kind and nice to whoever walks through their doors of the interior, which is 4,000 square feet inside. “We will load your vehicle,” Tina said, an added courtesy offered at the store.
The distributorship offers kegs, cases, single beverages, six packs, and slushies and the O’Rourke’s said they have a party wagon that is able to be rented that can hold six to 10 kegs of beer, for example.
Besides alcoholic beverages, the distributorship has ice, soda and snacks.
“The community response has been strong,” Devin said.
At Riverside Campground, the couple said the staff often manage to see several hundred people staying there or visiting. On weekends, it’s packed and the customer base is from all over the country — nearly every state — with options such as the restaurant, bar and music that are unavailable in most nearby campsites.
The O’Rourkes are parents themselves, with four children, and wanted to renovate the campground as a place — a destination — for families with their youngsters to swim, camp and be at one with nature.
The restaurant is also their pride and joy.
The couple has established strong partnerships with local purveyors of product lines such as Angus beef cattle and produce. They established a partnership with Ulrich’s, a farmer and neighbor friend who raised steer that are locally-sourced Black Angus beef.
“Black Angus beef for our burgers and dishes that is raised seven miles away and frozen once before it is served,” he said.
The couple get hydroponic lettuce and basil from Berger’s Greenhouse, farm fresh eggs from a farm in Elimsport and the best of all — preparing these dishes is Chef Winston Blick, who has been featured on Food Net-
work including in shows such as “Guy’s Grocery Games” and “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” hosted by renowned Chef Guy Fieri.
Blick, occasionally, will prepare chef’s table meals timed for holidays such as St. Patrick’s Day and others. His beef pit sandwich, which can be accompanied by grilled onions and horseradish sauce, is not to be missed.
“We wanted Montgomery to have such places,” the O’Rourkes said. “We wanted to make what was here better, nicer, cleaner and more customer-friendly.”
“We bring that conviction each day and night and it is why we wanted to share what we have with everyone in the region,” the couple said.

Century 21 wins Quality Pinnacle Award
By MARK MARONEY mmaroney@sungazette.com
Inside Century 21 Colonial Real Estate’s charming house and business location in historic Muncy is displayed a special award its Realtors and staff cherish.
Since 2001, the business has been a recipient of the Quality Service Pinnacle Award, said Misty Barto, Century 21 Colonial Real Estate office manager at the business located at 1892 John Brady Drive.
“We are quite proud to receive this,” she said, adding that it is because the award comes from customer surveys. “We win this year after year,” because of “our customer service we provide to our clients.”
This year, the staff is dedicated to focusing on heavily saturating social media feeds. Whether that is on Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin and the evolving Next Door, social media is seen as a technological tool to give and receive leads in the real estate market.
The 10 full-time Realtors also are dedicated to finding the right buyers and sellers of properties in a five-county region including Lycoming, Montour, Union, Northumberland and Sullivan counties.
Barto said the business specializes in all sorts of real estate with expertise in residential housing, multi-million property searches and sales, commercial and industrial properties, foreclosure, farms and large tracts of land. The company has a commercial investment network and multiple listing service, and translation for languages that include German.
The business is open at 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and has an on-call weekend Realtor call-forwarding service.
When it comes to homes or business properties, never settle. Always consider the customer-friendly
agents of Century 21 brand, Barto said.
For closing in on 40 years, Century 21 Colonial Real Estate has provided quality service.
Clients can expect to receive top-notch advice. Specialists are available on mortgage information, financial, affordability and rental versus buying calculators and specialized services to determine which option is best for the buyer and or seller.
