My name is Sung Yun, and I am a final-year undergraduate architecture student at the University of Colorado Denver. As a passionate architecture student, I may not have direct work experience, but I strongly believe in the profound impact of architecture on both the physical and mental well-being of its inhabitants. Architecture serves as a powerful tool to enhance everyday life by seamlessly integrating beauty, functionality, and efficiency. Drawing inspiration from nature and incorporating biophilic and sustainable design principles, architecture goes beyond creating aesthetically pleasing and functional spaces—it fosters a deeper connection between people and their surroundings while promoting overall well-being.
Thank you for your time. I am eager to grow within an architecture firm, enhance my skills, and expand my architectural knowledge.

This building was thoughtfully designed to host a 6-month live-work residency for Foley artists and music producers, creating spaces that foster creative collaboration and exposure. The goal was to establish a hub where Foley artists and music producers could learn, grow, and refine their craft while engaging with the vibrant creative community in RiNo. The residency aims to provide opportunities for exposure on multiple levels, supporting both artistic and professional development

To achieve this, the building features unique studios that offer varied experiences in sound diffusion, echo, and projection. Vein-like pathways connect these spaces to nearby communal areas and music venues, encouraging interaction with the local scene. At the same time, secluded individual sleeping units provide residents with personal spaces to recharge. These private areas are linked by a communal living space designed to spark interaction, excitement, and creativity, making the residency a truly immersive and inspiring experience

One of the defining features of this center is its commitment to sustainability and preservation. Rather than constructing a completely new building, the center focuses on repurposing and revitalizing existing structures, giving new purpose to spaces that might otherwise be neglected or forgotten.
The building’s design balances solidity and openness, with one side remaining solid while the other incorporates frames to showcase its structural composition. As a Nature Art Center, the goal is to reconstruct and reuse the existing walls instead of creating an entirely new structure.
To evoke a sense of timelessness and character, the exterior will be constructed with brick, while the interior will feature wooden frames and walls. The design will create a cave-like ambiance, but its proximity to water will allow natural light to reflect off the surface, illuminating the museum during the day. As visitors venture deeper inside, artificial lighting, powered by electricity harnessed from the river, will gradually take over.
The location of the center is strategically chosen within the walls of the hill and track at Confluence Park, blending harmoniously with its natural surroundings. Additionally, the center is designed to be environmentally friendly, utilizing renewable resources for its energy needs. Electricity and heating are sustainably generated by harnessing the power of the nearby river, ensuring minimal environmental impact while promoting a self-sufficient and eco-conscious creative environment.
Shelter
Scale: 8’ x 8’ x 8’
This shelter draws inspiration from the grand pyramids of Egypt and the iconic pyramid structure of the Louvre Museum in France. Located behind the Science Building at CU Denver, it is designed as a temporary resting space for students, providing them with a comfortable and inviting environment. The structure features a unique stepped design on all four sides, allowing visitors to climb up and relax while enjoying the surrounding view. Beneath the shelter, there is an open space where people can run and play freely, making it a versatile area for both rest and recreation. Additionally, the shelter is carefully designed to provide shade, offering protection from the intense sunlight and creating a cool, shaded retreat for those seeking respite from the heat
