Programs at SuniTAFE
VET in Schools (VETiS) SuniTAFE is a leading provider of Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) programs to secondary schools across North West Victoria. VETiS studies combine general Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) with vocational training and experience in the workplace. A Vocational Education and Training (VET) program offers students the opportunity to complete a nationally recognised vocational qualification while providing credit towards the VCE or VCAL, just like other subjects. This qualification gives you access to further training to improve employment opportunities upon finishing school. VETiS: • Gives you a nationally recognised qualification and broad range of skills • Prepares you for the workplace and builds your networks • Provides eligibility for two certificates upon successful completion of both a VCE or VCAL and a VETiS program • May shorten the length of an apprenticeship program. VETiS is your chance to undertake some of your education as part of a SuniTAFE course while you’re still at school. VETiS can contribute to VCAL and VCE study and the ATAR score. To find out more about your options, discuss study plans with your VCAL or VCE Coordinator to learn how VETiS can work for you.

Is there somebody who can assist me? Interested in enrolling? Your next step is to contact an Enrolment Advisor. The SuniTAFE Information Centre staff will discuss your options for study with you, give detailed advice about how to achieve your ultimate training goals and bring in training experts to consult with you about the specifics of your course. Your Enrolment Advisor will also be able to initiate any Skills Recognition for which you may be eligible and organise the paperwork for your application and enrolment process.
How do I apply? If you have found the course that suits your needs, your Enrolment Advisor will arrange the necessary application process for you. Some courses have specific entry requirements and application procedures which may involve interviews, attendance at information events and/or internal or external aptitude testing while some courses require that you have an informal chat with the trainer to decide on your training plan before enrolling. Please ask your Enrolment Advisor for more information.
How can I get a quote? For most courses TAFE fees and charges are calculated based on the subjects in which you enrol. Your fees are also affected by whether you study on or off campus, meet the requirements for entry into a subsidised or full fee paying place in a course and whether you possess a valid concession card. The fees for diploma level courses are calculated differently but are still affected by numerous other factors. To obtain a quote on fees for your enrolment you will first need to decide on which course and subjects you will be studying by consulting with an Enrolment Advisor. Quotes based on this information can then be easily obtained from Student Administration.
Can I get a concession? Concessions can only be applied at a diploma or advanced diploma level to enrolments where the enrolling student is under 25 years of age. If you are eligible for entry into a subsidised place in your chosen course and you possess a valid Health Care Card or Pension Card, issued by Centrelink, you will be able to get a concession on your tuition fees.
Start Your Career at SuniTAFE 2012 Your guide to introductory, certificate I, certificate II and certificate III courses.
Please make sure you advise your enrolment officer that you possess the card and bring it with you when you enrol. Student Administration staff will need to retain a copy of your card for our records. If you need to take proof of your enrolment to Centrelink or to your job network provider please advise your enrolment officer at the time of your enrolment. The appropriate documents can be provided on the spot.
How can I pay my fee?
• A valid concession card if you are eligible (e.g. Health Care Card, Pension Card etc.) • Valid Proof of Identification (e.g. drivers licence, passport, Medicare card, proof of age card etc.) • A completed Payment By Instalment form if this is your preferred method of payment as well as proof of your bank details such as a bank statement, passbook, print out from your internet banking or account information card from your bank. Once you have all the documentation you require your enrolment can be completed at Student Administration.
You will need to pay for your course at the same time that you enrol. Payment options include EFTPOS, cash, cheque or payment by instalment (via direct debit). Please ask for further details at Student Administration if you would like to set up a Payment By Instalment plan.
Administration has been advised by your teaching centre regarding your hours attended and any materials refund to which you may be entitled. Any refund entitlements are then calculated based on this information. For further information regarding the specifics of fee refunds for students who have withdrawn from study, please consult the Fee Refund information which can be found on the back of your Confirmation of Enrolment or ask at Student Administration.
What happens after I enrol? Welcome to SuniTAFE! After you have completed the enrolment process you will be able to obtain a student card from the Learning Resource Centre. This will allow you to access student resources such as computers and borrow resources from the library. Your timetable can be obtained from your teaching centre or accessed via the Student Portal.
If you are undertaking study at a diploma or advanced diploma level (and satisfy citizenship requirements) you are eligible for VET FEE-HELP. Please ask your Enrolment Advisor for more information regarding this.
What if I want to withdraw? If you wish to withdraw from your course, or perhaps from just a subject or two, please contact Student Administration. The staff will generate some paperwork for you to sign which will commence your withdrawal process.
How do I enrol? To complete your enrolment you will need: • A study plan detailing the units in which you will be enrolling which is obtained after your contact with an Enrolment Advisor and a trainer • A completed enrolment form which is available from the SuniTAFE Information Centre
They will also arrange a brief exit interview with our Senior Course Advisor to allow you to give us feedback on your reasons for withdrawal and to discuss any further study options with you. Your withdrawal paperwork will be completed by your teaching centre and processed by Student Administration. Your refund entitlements are examined as part of your withdrawal procedure. This does not happen at your initial request for withdrawal but takes place after Student Telephone 03 5022 3666
