JANUARY 8, 2010 Move Quick, 2010 is already moving fast... I was on the telephone Thursday and my client on the other end said "You know its Thursday already !?!" and I responded "Jerry, its only Wednesday"...he said "No, really, its Thursday and I was hoping it was only Wednesday...I have tons of work to do and it feels like we're only at mid week". Checking my Ironman watch I quickly agreed "...it is Thursday!" We both chuckled about how quickly 2010 had already started zooming by. He asked how business was and I was was happy to tell him business was not only good, it was great! I explained...since October our sales had been building consistently, and with the stock market recovery, our clients comfort zones had obviously returned. I had worked almost every day over our holiday shutdown because of "deals in process". And its not just us, not just our corner of the market but all boating markets...I know this because I have found production dates for most of our builders now range from July 2010 to Jan 2011 for "next boat" delivery. The good news is that we have ordered product for summer and fall delivery in anticipation of this resurgence and long lead times. More good news for sellers (and maybe bad news for buyers) is that pricing has stabilized as "repo" product is decreasing in availability. That being said, we have had experience buying repo boats, buying and selling using boats for clients from Europe, the Carribbean, the USA and all over Canada the past few months.
