Terms and Conditions Suriname is a small Dutch speaking country on the Northern coast of South America, part of the Amazonian basin and geographically one of the southernmost members of the Caribbean Community. With a total land area of 166,000 square kilometers and a population of approximately 492,829 inhabitants, settled for the largest part in the coastal areas, Suriname is one of the least densely populated countries in the world. Due to its colonial history, during which plantation labor was first supplied by the Indigenous population, then slaves out of Africa, and later by contracted workers from several Asian countries, Suriname has a unique multicultural and multi-ethnical population enriching the country with their delectable variety of foods and colorful traditions.
