There are two Sister islands, as they are affectionately called, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. Cayman Brac is home to approximately 2,000 people, and Little Cayman is home to about 200 people. These islands are much more rustic than Grand Cayman and slower to develop. If you want to have a piece of paradise that is quiet and remote, then these are your islands.

Cayman Brac: Brac is Gaelic for Bluff and is only 15 square miles. The Brac is 12 miles long and about 1.5 miles wide. The highest point is located on “The Bluff,” which is 140 feet above sea level. The Bluff is a limestone outcrop that rises steadily along the island’s length and offers visitors a chance to hike, rock climb, and bird watching along the rustic landscape. Cayman government is encouraging development on the Brac. As of January 1, 2021, there is no stamp duty for Brac if you build within four years. Also, there are no planning fees nor stamp duty on construction materials.

Little Cayman: is aptly named as it is the smallest of the two islands. Little Cayman is 10 square miles. Little as it’s affectionately called is only 10 miles long and just over one mile wide. The highest point is about 40 feet above sea level. Most of Little Cayman’s draw is in its impressive dive sights and unhurried pace of life. If you love bird watching, you need to visit Little Cayman, it is a bird lovers paradise. Many residents of Grand Cayman Island travel to Little Cayman for vacation.

How much is the Property Tax? $0.00, yes there is NO property tax; however, we do have a tax, and it is called Stamp duty of 7.5% of the value of the property, and just recently in Jan 2021, Zero % stamp tax on land in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman and 3% in developed property. The short answer is everything you want to buy is here. We get groceries three times a week by plane or ship. We have a massive Home Depot here called ALT Home Depot for hardware supplies and other smaller hardware stores. You can buy any American appliances you want, and if there is something special you want from Europe or Canada or the USA, you can always order it and have it shipped from Miami.
