For short and long term placement, for medical/ special needs, and sibling groups.

Ogemaw County Department of Health and Human Service is looking for adults, married or single, to provide foster care services to local children removed from their homes due to family crisis. • These foster families provide temporary homes, safety and nurturing to foster children. By providing a local placement, foster families give children, along with their birth parents, the opportunity to access services in the local area, thus assisting in the reunification process. Local foster homes allow children to remain in a familiar environment and within the same school system, thus reducing the trauma of removal from their family home. • Foster parents work together as part of the team to insure children’s needs are met and that family connection is maintained with their birth families. In those instances where reunification is NOT possible, foster families are often in a position to provide a permanent family to children who have lived in their homes through adoption. • Foster parents are given training to assist them in understanding the special needs of foster children. Other supports and services are available to make foster parenting possible for working parents or single foster parents.
