Thursday, September 19, 2013 New to the area is the Medicine’s Hall of Fame and Museum. This was a life-long collection by local resident Dr. Bruce Hodges who still practices geriatric medicine. Dr. Hodges said his fascination with medical advancements began after he was stricken at age 10 by osteomyelitis, a bone infection that until that time was considered incurable. Fortunately for Hodges, penicillin was discovered in 1928, and in the early 1940s Hodges became one of the first patients to be treated with it. Dr. Hodges began collecting medical artifacts over 35 years ago and now his collection has grown to more than 5,000 items, ranging from early 17th century Austrian apothecary jars to an iron lung used to keep polio patients alive in the 1950’s. Next, experience the magic that goes into making the world-famous Strawberry Hill Povitica while sampling various flavors of their delectable swirled bread. You can watch the artisan bakers take the traditional family recipes from dough to delicious through a large glass viewing window while being guided in a fun but informative visit through their bakery. Typical gratuities for tour manager and driver are $3-$5 per person, per day each. Trip Insurance For 2 main reasons we highly recommend the purchase of trip insurance and can provide information on Berkely Insurance: 1) Trip interruption – There are circumstances that can prevent passengers from fully participating in a tour and may require an early departure or extended stay. For example, if a passenger suffers

an injury that prevents the traveler from continuing on the tour, insurance will cover the cost of the extended stay, the cost of transportation home and the value of the missed tour (subject to claim submission and acceptance by Berkely Insurance). If you do not have insurance, you will personally incur these costs and it can be very expensive. 2) Trip cancellation - If you are forced to cancel a tour for medical reasons (for you or an immediate family member), having insurance ensures a complete refund of monies paid (except for the cost of insurance). Sunrise cannot guarantee this because there are times when monies are paid on your behalf prior to departure. Pick-up points For each trip, we determine the pick-up points based on point requests. All pick-up points allow parking for your vehicle. Sunrise’ pick up point partners offer the use of parking spaces during tour as a courtesy to Sunrise travelers. Neither Sunrise Tours nor parking lot owners assume responsibility for incidents occurring to parked cars. For overnight tours, you will be notified which pick-ups we are using for your tour in a letter about 2 weeks prior to departure. If you would like to stay overnight before leaving on the tour, we can provide a hotel room at some of our pick-ups for a reduced rate. If our routing allows, we may pick up along the way in outlying areas. Identification A passport is required on any tour that leaves the United States, including Canada. Photo ID’s are required on all fly tours and recommended on all tours. Singles Requesting Roommates If you would like to go on tour with us, but do not have a roommate for a specific trip, let us know and we will match you with someone else (same sex of course). Just let us know at least 60 days before departure and we will room you with another traveler at the double rate. If there is no roommate available on the tour you request, you will still only have to pay the price of a double. If you decline the roommate assigned, you will be responsible for the single supplement. Of course, if you prefer to travel individually, you can still sign up for the single fare. This offer is not valid on cruises, and some select tours. Method of Payments For deposits and one-day trip paymentswe accept checks or cash. For final pay-

ment on overnight tours we accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, check or cash. Seating on the Motorcoach Seating is assigned and will be rotated on a daily basis. Special seating requests are honored on the basis of availability. Paying the single fare does NOT ensure you will have two seats to yourself on the coach, it only ensures you a room by yourself. Responsibility Sunrise Tours is not responsible for any injury, delay, loss or accident due to any act or negligence on the part of any person or company rendering services on any of our tours. We reserve the right to change any itinerary. After You Book A Tour... After you have booked a tour and we have received your deposit, the following is a schedule of correspondences: 1) confirmation of deposit received 2) your final payment is due 30 days before departure for an all-motorcoach tour or 60 days before departure for tours involving air (please note you will NOT receive an invoice when final payment is due) 3) you will receive a letter about 2-3 weeks prior to departure that will include your luggage tags and important details such as pick-up times and locations, hotel phone #’s, what to bring etc..It will also include a detailed itinerary (subject to change). Dear Travelers, Well, semi-retirement seems to be agreeing with me. I have more free time, less stress and still get to enjoy traveling with my favorite people. The travel bug hit me again and just in time I was off with 43 passengers on our “Caribbean by Coach” cruise tour in March. Sharing some fun and laughs on our journey to New Orleans made our cruise experience even better. Together with our new group of friends we explored our beautiful ship and the sun and fun of the islands. Thanks to all of you on the cruise who were so patient with me as I learned one of the little extras that Sunrise Tours offers on the coach, “Happy Hour”, (I was told more than once “don’t quit your day job” as I was serving beverages). We have a new Cruise by Coach planned...see page 37. I just returned from a cruisetour to “Vietnam, Cambodia and the Riches of the Mekong”. I have to rate it right up there at the top. If you’re looking for a relaxing “day on the beach type of trip” it won’t be for you. If you’re looking for an adventure with incredible natural beauty, friendly gentle people, being completely immersed into a culture totally different than your own and learning firsthand about an important historical chapter in U.S. history, this is it. I’ve planned some new day trips, take a peek! There is a completely new take on an old favorite, called “A Garden Tour of Hermann, MO”. Then there is “Meds, Beds, Castles and Thread’s” a unique title for a unique new tour. Lots of new day trips. Hope to travel with you soon. Remember I am always looking for new ideas and enjoy hearing from you. Brent Dalrymple, Kristen Dalrymple and Pat McKinzie Pat
