The height of the gorge wall ranges from 1500 to 3000 feet and it features over 75 waterfalls.

e are very excited about combining with McKinzie Tours. We have known Pat McKinzie for many years through our affiliation with NTA (National Tour Association) and we have always been impressed with her and the way she runs her business. Pat knows the key to a great tour experience is creativity while planning an itinerary, hard work negotiating with hotels and restaurants, a professional tour managing staff and most of all, to have fun while on the road! Our mom and dad, Charlene and Jim Dalrymple, started Sunrise Tours in the basement of their St. Louis home about 20 years ago and just a few years after Pat started McKinzie Tours in the basement of her home in Overland Park. Our mom baked cookies for early tours just like Pat did. Our dad has spent hundreds of nights on the road and away from family
delivering incredible tour experiences to beloved customers just like Pat. In fact, we like to say in the office that Sunrise Tours is a service company disguised as a travel company! Put simply, our goal on every tour is to surprise you with the quality of the meals, hotels and experiences on your Sunrise Tour. “All inclusive” Remember, a Sunrise Tour is an inclusive product. All activities, tickets, taxes and typically two meals per day (included meals are indicated in the daily itinerary; b=breakfast, l=lunch, d=dinner, hot apps= extensive appetizers that could replace a dinner) are included so that your only expenses on the road will be meals that are not included, souvenirs and a gratuity for your tour manager, driver and step-on guides if you so desire. On a few tours, 2 meals a day may not be included, and will be indicated as such.
Policy Changes
We will institute some policy and procedure changes in 2013. We have listed a few notable changes below, and please carefully review our policies on page 42. Refreshments – On the morning of departure on overnight tours, you will receive a snack sack including a breakfast bar, fruit snack and crackers. Overnight tours also feature onboard “happy hour” on travel days. Name Tags – You will no longer receive a name tag at the beginning of your tour. We did a poll and a majority of customers polled said they didn’t think name tags are necessary on tour. We will place name cards above each seat (and rotate name cards each morning) which is a great way to learn the name of fellow travelers you have not previously met. Insurance – If you choose to buy tour insurance, you purchase it directly from BerkleyCare Insurance. In the past, McKinzie
Tours customers purchasing insurance sent the check to McKinzie Tours, and we then sent a check to BerkleyCare. We will send you information about insurance and how to purchase it for future tours. Single Travelers – If you are a single traveler but would like us to match you with a roommate in order to travel at the double rate, let us know at least 60 days before the tour departs and we will match you with a roommate. If a roommate is not available, you can still travel at the double rate (this offer is not valid
on cruises, and some select tours).
Loyalty Program – On your second tour of 4 days or more in 2013, take $50 per person off the listed tour price. On your third tour of 4 days or more in 2013, take $100 per person off, and so on. The more you travel, the more you save!

It features a newly restored, fully operational 1913 C. W. Parker Carousel, originally made in Leavenworth by the C. W. Parker Carousel Amusement company. Today we will visit several vintage homes. Leavenworth has a Vintage Homes Society of over 100 members and they have graciously opened their homes for your visit! Stop for lunch at June’s Café with time for shopping in this Victorian Home. While you dine listen to the barbershop quartet, all decked out in their convict outfits! Shop in historic downtown at the Leavenworth Landing at Artistic Works by Lu, offering fabulous, hand-designed jewelry and distinctive clothing. Lu will talk about accessorizing and how to wear your jewelry from day to night by layering and adding length. Then stop at Euro Pottery offering the finest collection of Polish pottery imported from Boleslawiec, Poland. A special presentation by Lona Baggay will describe the pottery, where it is made, the properties of ceramic and stoneware from the Art Collection to pieces you can put into the oven and freezer. It’s here we meet Jan Jenson, a local rancher who will take us on a tour to experience the Flint Hills. Day 5: Cajun Heritage This morning visit a working rice farm where two crops are farmed - rice and crawfish and the farmer explains how he uses the same land for both “crops”. This afternoon visit Vermilionville, a beautiful Cajun heritage and folk life museum that portrays the rich culture of the Cajuns. Set on the banks of the Bayou Vermilion, the historic village contains original homes filled with artifacts reflecting life in Acadiana between 1765 and 1890. Costumed historical interpreters authentically demonstrate traditional crafts and musical styles with a distinctly French accent. European Christmas Markets Day 1: Overnight flight International flight. D (onboard plane) Day 2: Rothenburg, Germany Arrive in Frankfurt and board our luxury coach for the short drive to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. This medieval city is one of only a few that exist in Germany that still have their entire medieval defensive wall intact. Rothenburg also has a Christmas market, and after touring the city on a short walk with a local guide to learn its history, we will have time to enjoy a smaller and quaint market. You will want to stop to visit Käthe Wohlfahrt’s Christkindlmarkt, an enormous Christmas shop which is open year-round. B (onboard plane) Day 3: Nurnburg, Germany In the past century, Nürnberg has dark ties to the Nazi party, and was the scene of the war trials held by allied forces. In more modern times it has a much brighter reputation as the site of the best Christmas markets in Germany. Dozens and dozens of stands which are decorated for the season are set in the city center square, with craftsmen that have handmade a large variety of goods to sell. Some stands are cooking sausages and others are warming Glühwein, a mix of red wine and spices. We return Rothenburg for overnight. B, D Day 4: Strasbourg, France After breakfast we depart for Strasbourg, France where we tour the Cathedral of Strasbourg, St. Thomas’s Church, and the University, the Astronomical clock and the historic “La Petite Strasbourg” quarter. Our highlight will be exploring Strasbourg’s famous Christmas market around its impressive cathedral since 1570! While we are walking through the city, we see the work of the talented craftsmen, and the Bredle Market where we may taste little delicious cakes traditionally prepared during the advent period. Policies Cancellations Our refund policy for cancellations varies according to the type of tour. Your deposit is fully refundable up to the final payment due date. On any cancellation made after final payment is due, we reserve the right to withhold monies for non-refundable expenses. All motorcoach: Refund up to the day of departure for medical reasons except for non-refundable expenses to us. Many hotels, restaurants & activities require prepayment. Fly/Coach: The motorcoach portion of the tour is fully refundable (except for nonrefundable expenses incurred by us) up to the day before departure for medical reasons. The refund of the flight portion of the cost is non-refundable. Cruise and International tours: Refund for cancellation of cruises and international tours depend on the cruise line or tour operator. Please call for questions on a specific cruise or tour. Final Payment Your final payment is due 30 days before departure for an all-motorcoach tour and 60 days before departure for tours involving air unless otherwise noted. One-day tour payments are due in full upon reservation. Please call us in reference to cruise payment deadlines. Tour Price Inclusions (and tipping policy) The price of the tour includes all attractions, lodging, motorcoach transportation, breakfast and dinner daily (unless noted otherwise), and tips for hotel, airport, and restaurant personnel. If the tour involves air travel, the cost of the ticket is included unless otherwise noted. Some airlines charge for checked baggage and that is not included in the tour price. Tips for the driver, tour managers, and step-on guides are left to the discretion of the traveler and should be in accordance with services received. Typical gratuities for tour manager and driver are $3-$5 per person, per day each. Trip Insurance For 2 main reasons we highly recommend the purchase of trip insurance and can provide information on Berkely Insurance: 1) Trip interruption – There are circumstances that can prevent passengers from fully participating in a tour and may require an early departure or extended stay. For example, if a passenger suffers
an injury that prevents the traveler from continuing on the tour, insurance will cover the cost of the extended stay, the cost of transportation home and the value of the missed tour (subject to claim submission and acceptance by Berkely Insurance). If you do not have insurance, you will personally incur these costs and it can be very expensive. 2) Trip cancellation - If you are forced to cancel a tour for medical reasons (for you or an immediate family member), having insurance ensures a complete refund of monies paid (except for the cost of insurance). Sunrise cannot guarantee this because there are times when monies are paid on your behalf prior to departure. Pick-up points For each trip, we determine the pick-up points based on point requests. All pick-up points allow parking for your vehicle. Sunrise’ pick up point partners offer the use of parking spaces during tour as a courtesy to Sunrise travelers. Neither Sunrise Tours nor parking lot owners assume responsibility for incidents occurring to parked cars. For overnight tours, you will be notified which pick-ups we are using for your tour in a letter about 2 weeks prior to departure. If you would like to stay overnight before leaving on the tour, we can provide a hotel room at some of our pick-ups for a reduced rate. If our routing allows, we may pick up along the way in outlying areas. Identification A passport is required on any tour that leaves the United States, including Canada. Photo ID’s are required on all fly tours and recommended on all tours. Singles Requesting Roommates If you would like to go on tour with us, but do not have a roommate for a specific trip, let us know and we will match you with someone else (same sex of course). Just let us know at least 60 days before departure and we will room you with another traveler at the double rate. If there is no roommate available on the tour you request, you will still only have to pay the price of a double. If you decline the roommate assigned, you will be responsible for the single supplement. Of course, if you prefer to travel individually, you can still sign up for the single fare. Dear Travelers, Many exciting things have been happening with “McKinzie Tours”. As you know, we have been partnering with “Sunrise Tours” in St. Louis for most of the past year. This partnership has been so successful and well-liked by our clients, and theirs, that they have purchased “McKinzie Tours”. After 25 years I still love the tour industry and the ability it offers for me to travel and explore the world with you, our wonderful clients. I will continue to be in the office on a part time basis planning day trips and doing sales. As always I’m still looking for exciting new ideas and hope you will continue to write or stop by our new office with them. If you have a group such as your church, bank, golf league or travel club we would be happy to help you with itinerary planning and partnering. The new owners of McKinzie Tours, (now Sunrise Tours), are Brent and Kristen Dalrymple whose parents started their business about the same time I did. Brent and Kristen grew up knowing and loving the industry, following college they returned with fresh knowledge, ideas and great business savvy.
