Tip 1: Cruising is an adventure. Put yourself into the mindset that this will be a great experience. Spend time looking forward to your cruising vacation. This might seem like banal advice, but really this puts you totally into the best mindset. Everything flows from there. Tip 2: If you know the cruise ship and destinations you want, you might consider booking an interior room. Of course having a cabin with a balcony is great, but is it worth the extra price? Usually your room is just for sleeping and getting ready to enjoy the many spectacular activities the cruise ship offers. You will no doubt find yourself spending lots of time on deck - therefore enjoying the best views. You could put that extra money you're saving to good use for a special cruise excursion or possibly buy that item of jewelry they are offering at a discount on board. Tip 3: Start a packing list/checklist You will be thinking of your cruise vacation weeks, even months before you travel. These thoughts should sometimes lead to actions. For example, you're at your computer and thinking about a port of call that is on your list. This could lead to a need to purchase sunscreen and/or bug repellent. Now you still have time to go shopping and get the best ones out there for you - maybe a natural one, even organic. So go and put that on your list and then you have lots of time to get the one that's the best for you. Tip 4: You are on your way - Get to the airport early. Personally I always feel that once I'm at the airport, all my stress of getting there has gone (will the cat be OK, will my plants survive, etc.) and my mind is filled with present and ongoing events. So for me it's a great thing to be at the first stage of my journey. Getting there early for me changes my mindset into a positive and no longer worry frame of mind. Also, there maybe lots of traffic at that particular time at the airport and you might have longer than necessary to queue up to give up your luggage. Check in online the night before saves stress but you still have to queue up to offload your luggage. If things go smoothly, enjoy that special cup of coffee in peace, have a leisurely look at the duty free shops. You are now in vacation mode! Tip 5: Unpack At Once It's always a good idea to empty your suitcase and put all your gear away, at your disposal now whenever you need it. Use the same routine as at home - swimwear in a drawer, pants hanging in the closet, etc. That way you will easily remember where everything is Stash the empty suitcase under the bed and you room will be clear and not cluttered.
