If you are an avid backpacker or just an occasional camper, you know that having a comfortable backpack is essential to a successful trip. And you likely have a great pack. But could you benefit from an Osprey Atmos 50? The Atmos 50 has some great features that will make it your go to pack for every adventure. The Osprey Atmos 50 is designed to be a lightweight backpack. For those with back problems or those who don't want back problems, a lightweight pack can help in keeping the overall load manageable. It weighs just over 3 pounds (1.5 kg) and is rated to carry 35 - 50 pounds (16 - 23 kg). Osprey has equipped the Atmos 50 with its AirSpeed suspension. This consists of a lightweight alloy frame which holds the pack away from your back. The back panel is tensioned mesh, allowing air to reach your back. Because the bulk of the pack is about an inch away from your back, and because of the side vents which also encourage air circulation, your back is kept cool and dry. To further ensure your comfort, the Atmos 50's harness can be bought in several sizes and is adjustable. The shoulder straps are made of strong, light perforated foam, allowing air to reach you. They are contoured for comfort, as is the hip belt, which is also made from perforated foam. The hip belt is designed to mold itself to your shape as you wear it, and has two built in mesh pockets. As with all Osprey backpacks, the Atmos 50 is hydration compatible. It also has two side pockets made of stretch nylon that are suitable for storing water. Thus the pack offers ample space for keeping a large water supply close. In addition to the side pockets, there is a stretch nylon front pocket that is great for keeping wet items or bulky items, like rain gear, shoes, or a helmet. Two vertical pockets on either side of the front of the bag allow additional separation of gear. They are also suitable for water bottles, or could be used for tent parts or an inflatable sleeping pad. For those that need tools, there are two ice axe loops on the Atmos 50, as well as bungee tie-offs and sleeping pad straps. It is a traditional top loading bag with a floating top pocket lid. Side compression straps will keep the load secure. Regardless of what you use it for, a lightweight Atmos 50 will help you to have a comfortable, enjoyable adventure.
