You've planned your next adventure and now you need a pack to take with you. Whether your adventure is hiking the Pacific Coast Trail or backpacking in Asia, the Osprey Aether 70 is the bag for you. It is replete with great features and like all Osprey bags is durable and versatile. The Osprey Aether 70 is designed to be rugged yet fairly lightweight. It weighs between 4 pounds 11 ounces and 5 pounds 2 ounces, depending on the size. It is a men's bag, though there is a corresponding series for women, called the Ariel. The Aether 70 is a great size for many types of adventures. It is big enough to take on a multi-day camping trip, yet will size down small enough for a long day hike. It is rated to carry between 50 and 65 pounds. One of the best features of the Osprey Aether 70 is the ability to access the main compartment from more than one place. It is a top loader, and is closed by a drawstring like most top loaders. The sleeping bag compartment is accessed from the bottom and there is also panel access. The panel access is a J-shaped zipper running across the front top and side of the pack, and allows you access to the middle of the bag, a very convenient feature. Another great feature of the Aether 70 is the fact that the top lid, which has a zipper pocket in it, can be removed from the pack and used as a lumbar pack. This would be useful for those going away from their campsite for a short hike, or for those making summit attempts. Osprey has included ample compression on the Aether 70. There are compression straps on the front of the bag and the side of the bag. In addition, there is a compression strap on the inside of the bag. You can be sure your gear isn't going anywhere during your hike, and that you will have the best balance possible, because your load is secure. For both hikers and travel trekkers, there are ample attachment points on the Aether 70. There are two ice axe loops with bungee tie-offs, and Osprey's unique trekking pole attachments which allow you to stow your poles without removing the pack. In addition, the pack has loops to attach a day pack to the front. The sleeping pad straps at the bottom front could be used to attach a variety of things. Last but certainly not least, the Aether 70 has a comfortable adjustable harness and hip belt. Made of foam, they mold to your body while you are wearing them. The back panel is made of ridged foam covered in grip mesh, so it allows some air circulation between your back and the pack. Like all Osprey packs, the Aether 70 is hydration compatible and made of durable rip-stop nylon. Backed by Osprey's lifetime guarantee, it is sure to be your constant companion on many future adventures.
