MEET YOUR CHAIRPEOPLE SUSAN & RON GREENSPAN

CHAIRS We are delighted that you are joining us at the 41st annual Sun Valley Museum of Art Wine Auction. Recognizing that there are many worthy causes and exciting places to visit, we appreciate that you are partaking in the wonderful attractions of the world-famous Sun Valley area and supporting the vital cultural experiences and arts education enabled by Sun Valley Museum of Art. We fell in love with the Wood River Valley the first time we visited in 2008—and bought a house on our third day here! Each year thereafter we spent more time in the valley and, four years ago, made Sun Valley our primary residence. Little did we know that the world would soon experience a oncein-a-century pandemic and thousands of others would also discover how idyllic life is here. One of the things that makes this rural corner of America more complete and enlightening for everyone who visits or lives here is SVMoA. It is the leading arts educator and producer of

cultural programs in the valley—in the visual arts, performing arts, humanities and education—reaching both a wide range of adults and every student in the county through its programs. Moreover, The Museum, through its BIG IDEA programming, dares to ask tough questions and challenges its audiences to open their minds, think creatively and potentially challenge the status quo—all without a preconceived position other than that each of us is a worthy individual with our own viewpoints. The Sun Valley Wine Auction provides half the annual operating budget for The Museum—and for that our entire community thanks you, our very generous patrons and contributors. In return, we hope to produce a fun, educational, and unique experience for you, our guests. We invite you to enjoy the unspoiled outdoors of our beautiful surroundings, the enhanced culinary and educational components of this year’s Wine Auction, and the artisanal products of our treasured vintners. As well as the incredible friendliness of our community.

We hope you return for many years or—perhaps— join us as grateful residents!

WELCOME. ENJOY. BE KIND. MAKE NEW FRIENDS. GIVE BACK.

THE FINE PRINT A NOTE ON HEALTH & SAFETY The Wine Auction team and Museum staff are committed to the health and safety of our patrons, participants and partners. We are working hard to ensure COVID-19 protocols are adhered to at all events throughout Wine Auction week and that the recommendations of the CDC, State of Idaho, Blaine County, Ketchum and Sun Valley will be strictly followed.

PAYMENT & REFUND POLICY Registration may be paid for by check or credit card (American Express, MasterCard or Visa).

Due to the limited availability of passes and the charitable fundraising purpose of the event, no refunds are available.

EVENT WAITLIST In the likely event of a sell-out, we will place you on a waitlist for all events.

21 OR OLDER By law, all registrants and guests attending Wine Auction-sponsored events must be at least 21 years of age. No one under 21, including infants and toddlers, will be admitted to any function over the course of the Wine Auction week. We recommend making childcare arrangements in advance.

PARKING REQUIREMENTS Valet parking will be provided for the Picnic, Live Auction & Concert evening at Trail Creek Cabin on July 21.

To arrange for a car service, please contact: Miller’s Limo 208.720.3861 Wood River Taxi 208.788.8294

Because SVMoA puts all donations to work quickly to enrich our community, SVMoA does not offer refunds of any donations.

1

375ML This designation refers to a small bottle that holds 375ml of wine, half as much as a standard wine container.

2

750ML This designation refers to the standard-sized bottle that holds 750ml of wine, or 4/5 quarts. This size bottle, regardless of whether it has a straight or sloping neck, is used for red, white, rosé and sparkling wines. Sparkling wine bottles appear to be larger than standard because they are made of thicker glass to withstand the pressures of carbonation, but they contain 750ml of wine.

3

MAGNUM This designation refers to a bottle that holds 1.5 liters of wine, the equivalent of two 750ml bottles. Sparkling wines are sometimes fermented in magnums because this method is believed to lengthen the wine’s life.

4

5

JEROBOAM

CONTAINER DESIGNATIONS

6

REHOBOAM This designation refers to an oversized bottle that holds approximately 4.5 liters of sparkling wine, the equivalent of six 750ml bottles.

7

IMPERIAL This designation refers to an oversized bottle that holds approximately 6 liters of wine, the equivalent of eight 750ml bottles.

“THE ARTS BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER WHEN THE REST OF THE WORLD WANTS TO TEAR US APART.” – Josie Koeplin, SVMoA Scholarship Recipient

CULTURAL CONVERSATIONS ARE THE WAY WE CHANGE THE WORLD

THE RAISE THE PADDLE FOR ART SUPPORTS SVMOA’S MISSION OF ENRICHING OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH TRANSFORMATIVE ARTS AND EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES. At SVMoA, almost everything we do throughout the year, whether offering classes for teens or scholarships to area teachers, curating exhibitions featuring newly commissioned artwork or presenting music in the school, requires subsidy. Even our big concerts rarely generate income. By Raising the Paddle, you allow us to keep ticket prices low, provide programs to all the valley’s students for free, and make classes, lectures and workshops available at a reasonable cost. Our Museum is open and free to all. We believe the arts are essential—not extra. They are what makes us human. SVMoA is committed to Arts Education and fostering LIFELONG Learning for the whole community. Your gift creates the opportunity for others to experience and engage in the arts and arts education.

In 2021, SVMoA exceeded $1 million in cumulative giving for arts scholarships.

WHAT DOES RAISE THE PADDLE FOR ART SUPPORT? • Year-round free and reduced-cost arts education programs and exhibitions for lifelong learners throughout the whole Wood River Valley • Four unique in-school and in-museum programs serving all area schools, more than 4,000 K–12 students annually • Multiple scholarships awarded each year for local students and educators, enabling them to continue their passion for and exploration of the arts • Arts education classes for Spanish-speaking families, adults and students • New and expanded partnerships with local nonprofits including The Community Library, the Hunger Coalition, the I Have a Dream Foundation, and more • Cultural celebrations that honor traditions and histories of native, resident and immigrant populations

PLEASE JON US IN IMPACTING YOUR COMMUNITY BY SUPPORTING CONTINUED ACCESS TO THE ARTS. BID HIGH, BID OFTEN, BID PROUD!

RIP & VAN WINKLE WITH THE CLAYVILLES PAPPY VAN WINKLE FEAT. YELLOWSTONE STAR COLE HAUSER “Always fine bourbon” was the modus operandi of famed Pappy Van Winkle when he founded his eponymous distillery nearly 100 years ago. Four generations later, the Van Winkle name is still synonymous with perfection. Beloved by the likes of Anthony Bourdain, Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery Company produces an extremely limited release of only 7,000 cases a year. But this September, you could be one of the lucky few to imbibe and enjoy the coveted whiskey! The extremely rare, near impossibleto-come-by bourbon will be front and center at a delightful tasting and dinner hosted by beloved Wine Auction committee members Corry and Mike Clayville at their home north of Ketchum, Elk Run Ranch. Also in attendance will be the Van Winkle triplets, Louise, Carrie and Chenault, the collective brains, brawn and beauty behind Pappy & Company, a collection of fine bourbon-inspired products that range from barrel-aged pantry staples to small-batch cigars and thoughtfully made homegoods. Horseback rides on the Clayville property will be available for attending guests, and a cameo by Cole Hauser, the actor who plays Rip Wheeler on the hit television series Yellowstone, will serve as perfect complement to the evening’s festivities.
