Short News Telangana Assembly election: Rebels to form own kutami

Hyderabad: A rebels’ front is forming in the state to take on the parties that disappointed them in the upcoming elections. All major political parties have denied tickets to leaders who have decided to contest as rebels. The rebels are planning to fight the elections with a common symbol. Rebel candidates from the Congress and TD held separate meetings to decide their future course of action. Former minister and Congress leader Boda Janardhan who was denied the Chennur ticket has taken the initiative to bring all rebels onto one platform. He held the first meeting of rebels on Thursday night and a follow-up meeting on Friday. TD rebels met at a hotel at Jubilee Hills and discussed what they would do next. Mr Janardhan, speaking to the media along with Mr Suddala Devaiah and former minister Vijaya Rama Rao, criticised AICC leader R.C. Khuntia and TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy saying they had made “maya” in the name of Mahakutami. Mr Janardhan said 40 rebels had attended his meeting.

Congress didn’t care about India’s security when they ruled: Amit Shah

Sagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Friday said the Congress did not care about the nation’s security when it “ruled India for 70 years”, adding securing the borders was a major achievement of the Modiled government. Addressing a poll rally, Shah credited the Modi government with giving impetus to boosting the country’s security. “When the Congress was in power and Manmohan Singh was the prime minister, Pakistani terrorists used to infiltrate, explode bombs and go back,” he said. “There was anger across the country after the 2016 Uri attack in which 18 Indian soldiers were killed. But this was not the regime of Mauni Baba (Manmohan Singh).

No post-poll tie-up with BJP or Congress in Chhattisgarh, says Mayawati

Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Friday ruled out the possibility of tying up with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or the Congress to form the government in Chhattisgarh, asserting that her alliance with Ajit Jogi’s party would get absolute majority. “When our alliance is fully confident of getting an absolute majority (in the 90-member House), where does the question of a post-poll tieup with the BJP or the Congress arise?” the Dalit leader said when asked about which way her party would go in such a scenario. “This is a mischievous question. The question does not arise. The second phase of the polling is yet to take place,” the BSP supremo told a news channel. Dismissing the suggestion as hypothetical, Mayawati said the alliance -- with Jogi’s Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) -- would prefer to sit in the Opposition if it could not form the government on its own. “At present the question of extending or taking support from any party does not arise,” she told NDTV. Describing the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress as “saap nath” and “naag nath” (snakes), the 62-year-old leader said there was no question of having any truck with either of the two.

At least 13 dead, over 81,000 affected after Cyclone Gaja hit Tamil Nadu coast

New Delhi: At least 13 people have lost their lives and over 81,000 others were affected after Cyclone ‘Gaja’ hit the Tamil Nadu coast early Friday, the National Emergency Response Centre (NERC) said. Six districts of Tamil Nadu and two in Puducherry were hit by the cyclonic storm which also brought heavy rains in the southern state and the union territory. Altogether 81,948 people were affected by the cyclone in which so far 13 people have lost their lives, the NERC said in a statement. Soon after Gaja’s landfall, Home Minister Rajnath Singh called up Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami and assured him of all assistance to deal with the situation arising out of the cyclonic storm. The home minister also directed Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba to monitor

the situation in Tamil Nadu and provide all help to the state administration. “Spoke to CM Shri K Palaniswami

Andhra Pradesh order blocks CBI from state; agency must seek permit each time.

Chandrababu Naidu bars CBI raids in Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada: In an unprecedented move, the Andhra Pradesh government has withdrawn ‘general consent’ given to the CBI, restricting its activities in the state. In the last few days, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been vocal about the controversy surrounding CBI saying the Modi government was misusing agencies like the CBI, Enforcement Directorate and income-tax I-T department to intimidate and harass Opposition parties. Mr Naidu has alleged that TD leaders and businessmen linked to the ruling party have been subjected to income-tax raids after his NDA pullout. Subsequently, the AP government had decided against providing police cover to I-T officials for conducting raids. Following the withdrawal of general consent, the CBI is barred from investigating

regarding the situation in the cyclone affected areas of Tamil Nadu. Assured all possible assistance from the Centre in mitigating the situation arising due to cyclone. Asked the HS to monitor the situation & provide all help to the state admin (sic),” Singh tweeted. A release issued in Chennai by the Tamil Nadu government said a “detailed report” will be sent to the Centre on the damage caused by the severe cyclonic storm. “Chief Minister Palaniswami explained in detail the measures taken by the state government, the damage caused by ‘Gaja’, and the relief measures being taken up on a war-footing,” it said. The NERC, which functions under the Home Ministry, said 471 relief camps were set up in Tamil Nadu and 57 relief camps in Puducherry.

and carrying out raids in the state, including questioning Central government employees working in the state and private individuals residing in AP. ‘Make someone from outside Gandhi family your chief’: PM Modi dares Congress

Ambikapur (Chhattisgarh): Returning the Congress’ “a chaiwala could become prime minister due to Nehru” barb, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday dared it to make someone “from outside the family” as its chief for him to believe the late leader created a true democratic system. PM Modi also charged the Gandhis with still not being able to come to terms that a “son of a poor mother” could become the country’s prime minister. Addressing a campaign rally for the second phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, PM Modi slammed the opposition party for crediting his occupying the Prime Ministerial post to Nehru instead of people in the country. He also hit back at the Congress also for questioning demonetisation, saying the move “still rankles” them as the money “stashed under beds and in sacks” was taken away in a single stroke. The Prime Minister asked

Congress to give account of what the four generations of the (Gandhi) family did for the nation. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor had said it was due to the institutional structure created by Nehru that even a “chai wala” (tea seller) could become India’s prime minister. His party colleague Mallikarjun Kharge had also said a “chaiwala” could become the prime minister as the Congress preserved democracy. “They (Congress leaders) are saying

it was due to a great person, due to Pandit Nehru, that a chaiwala became the prime minister,” PM Modi said. “If you so much respect the democracy, do a small thing. If you claim that because of your principles, your faith in democracy, the Constitution and Pandit Nehru, Modi, a chaiwala, could become the PM, appoint someone good from outside the (Gandhi) family as the Congress president for just five years,” he said.

Kerala HC denies bail to activist who tried to enter Sabarimala temple

Kochi: The Kerala high court Friday dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of activist Rehana Fathima, who had made an attempt to enter the Sabarimala temple when the shrine was opened for monthly puja in October after the Supreme Court order allowing entry of women in the age group of 10 and 50 into the Lord Ayyappa shrine. The activist was booked by the police in Pathanamthitta on the basis of a complaint filed by Radhakrishna Menon alleging some of her Facebook posts hurt religious sentiments. She was booked under Section 295A of IPC. Anticipating arrest, she moved the high court seeking anticipatory bail. Dismissing the bail plea, the court directed that the police can take appropriate steps in the case. Fathima, a model and activist who was part of “Kiss of Love” movement in Kochi in 2014

against alleged moral policing, was among the two women who had reached the hilltop on October 19 but had to return

before reaching the sanctum sanctorum following massive protests by Ayyappa devotees. Fathima and Hyderabadbased journalist Kavitha were taken to the hills with heavy police protection. Meanwhile, the Kerala high court has granted bail to six people arrested for allegedly attacking police and preventing devotees at Nilackal, near Pamba, when the temple doors were opened for monthly puja last month. Several journalists were attacked by devotees when the temple was opened for six days on October 17 for the first time after the Supreme Court order. On September 28, a five-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court, headed by then chief justice Dipak Misra, lifted the centuries-old ban on the entry of women of menstrual age into the shrine, but a section of devotees is protesting the decision.

‘If Modi says he is a chowkidar, people will respond that chowkidar chor hai,’ Rahul Gandhi said at a rally in Madhya Pradesh.

‘Demonetisation biggest scam in history of independent India’: Rahul Gandhi

Sagar: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday termed demonetisation as the biggest scam in the history of independent India, adding it would be proved that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had “robbed the poor of their hard-earned money and given it away to a few rich”. Addressing a campaign rally for the November 28 Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls, Rahul Gandhi said PM Modi does not talk about being a “chowkidar (watchman) of the country

and of tackling corruption.” “If (PM) Modi says he is a chowkidar, people will respond that chowkidar chor

hai,” he said, addressing a rally at Deori in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. Rahul Gandhi claimed that PM

Modi “cancelled the Rafale deal of 126 fighter aircraft with Dassault Aviation and HAL at a price of Rs 526 crore per plane” without informing the Indian Air Force and the then defence minister Manohar Parrikar. “The then French president Francois Hollande has said the Indian government had asked for Anil Ambani to be taken on board for the deal,” the Congress chief said. “(PM) Modi gave Rs 30,000 crore to Anil Ambani in this deal.

CVC report may affect CBI chief Alok Verma New Delhi: The Supreme Court said that the Central Vigilance Commission’s preliminary report on allegations against CBI director Alok Verma contained some findings that were complimentary and others that were “very uncomplimentary”. These needed further investigation, the court said on Friday. A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi ordered that the confidential CVC report be given to Mr Verma in a sealed cover, and asked him to respond to it by Monday, also in a sealed cover. It will take up the matter on Tuesday.

The CVC probe against Mr Verma was supervised by former Supreme Court judge A.K. Patnaik and the probe was completed on November 10. Mr Verma would file his reply on November 19, his lawyer Fali S. Nariman told the bench. “Once we will have your (Verma) response, we will take a decision,” the CJI said. The top court was hearing Mr Verma’s plea challenging the government’s order divesting him of his duties and sending him on leave in view of the allegations of corruption against him.

RBI and the government: stepping back from the brink

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the ministry of finance (MoF) are once again making headlines for all the wrong reasons. It is expected that matters will come to a head at the RBI central board meeting on 19 November. My own expectation is that both parties will step back from the brink. If they don’t, the impact on the financial markets will be very costly as deputy governor Viral Acharya recently warned. Of course, his public reference to the ongoing tensions didn’t exactly help to calm the markets. Tensions between central banks and finance ministries are neither new nor unique to India. Such tensions often arise between the finance ministries and central banks in advanced economies as well as emerging market economies. In India, RBI governor Urjit Patel’s predecessor Raghuram Rajan is known to have had his differences with the present government and former governors D. Subbarao and Y.V. Reddy had their differences with P. Chidambaram, the then finance minister. Such tensions are partly structural, embedded in the different roles of the institutions. Central banks are primarily responsible for monetary policy and maintaining a low rate of inflation. The finance ministries are responsible for fiscal policy and ensuring a high rate of growth and employment. Fiscal and monetary policies interact and the policy requirements of these competing goals often pull in opposite directions. Hence the embedded tension. Of course the tensions between the RBI and the MoF are not always healthy tensions embedded in their different policy roles. As a seasoned campaigner wryly remarked, “it is often just a clash between the arrogance of power and the arrogance of expertise”. In the past, such differences have typically been resolved in discreet discussions away from the public gaze. This time the differences have unfortunately been aired in the full glaze of the media. Why is it different this time? A possible reason is that several contentious issues have come together at the same time. First, there is the Allahabad high court suggestion that the central government should consider giving directions to the RBI regarding the highly indebted independent power producers who fell foul of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC). The government is authorised to give such directions if it considers necessary in public interest, after consultations with the governor, under clause 7(1) of the RBI Act.

Much ado about self-pleasure scene

Shwetha says, “When I heard the script, I didn’t think twice about it. It’s a girl sitting in the library and reading 50 Shades of Grey. And I was like great, I don’t have to involve anybody else into it. I was very happy.” “The scene was shot and I was sure about the director. Now suddenly, people are saying it is a bold scene. And I wonder ‘why are you blowing it

out of proportion?’,” she says. The thrilling and gripping crime drama has an ensemble cast of Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Vikrant Massey, Divyendu Sharma, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Gaur and Amit Sial. Talking about the scene, she adds, “When I Google, I don’t want to see Shweta Tripathi masturbating in a library, because that’s not the point of the scene. The point is that a girl doesn’t even need a boy to satisfy her. If a man does it, it’s no big deal. Why make a big deal when a woman does it?” She states, “I did not feel awkward about it.

because you can’t say whatever you feel like. Today you feel this way, as you might have just had a bad day. But if you say whatever you want to that will go in print and it will be there forever. You can’t change it and people will hold those opinions about you. You are not allowed to change your mind or opinions. But we do change, and probably what I thought in 2013 I don’t think that anymore. I have probably changed the way I look at men, family and marriage or whatever. Thugs of Hindostan box office collection day 8: Aamir Khan film earned Rs 2.60 crore on Thursday, taking the total collection to Rs 140.40 crore.

YRF production earns Rs 140.40 crore New Delhi : Thugs of Hindostan saw Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan sharing screen space for the first time but it seems the duo failed to pull in the audience to theaters. While the Vijay Krishna Acharya film had a super start at the box office with Rs 50.75 crore, the film has shown a massive dip in its first week. It seems bad reviews and word of mouth promotion has led to the fall. On Thursday, the film earned Rs 2.60 crore taking

the total collection to Rs 140.40 crore. While the film has received bad reviews mostly, Shah Rukh Khan said it’s unfair to overlook the good work done by an actor if a film fails to impress. “There are people who have given excellence to cinema for years. A film can be good, a film can be bad; none of us can ever claim ki ‘maine duniya ki sabsi achchi film banayi hain.’ Mr Bachchan and Aamir have been people who have

constantly contributed to the excellence of cinema. The greatest contribution to Hindi cinema in the last 10 years has been from Aamir, and with Amitji, it’s been even longer. Now if a film of theirs (Thugs of Hindostan) doesn’t reach the level that you expected it to, does it take away from what they have done for cinema?” said Shah Rukh in a recent interview with The Telegraph.

infrastructure. According to Mr. Sandeep Chaturvedi, President, BDAI, “total national vegetable oil consumption is about 22.7Mn tons. The Consumption of fried foods especially during festivals is very common in our country, but we are seldom aware of the quality of vegetable oil used in our fried foods. Generally, foods business operators do not use the same oil more than three times in order to maintain the taste and quality of their product.” But the UCO disposal remains a grey area and sometimes it finds a way back into our food chain or drainage. Alexander Zverev set up ATP Finals semi-finals against Roger Federer

Damien Fleming, who has played a lot of limited overs and a few Test matches against India, like most of the pundits agreed that India never had such a potent pace attack.

Jasprit Bumrah will be x-factor for Indian attack: Damien Fleming

Sydney : Former Australian pacer Damien Fleming termed Jasprit Bumrah as the “x-factor” in the Indian bowling line-up which will take on Australia in the fourTest series, starting December 6. “He (Bumrah) is the real X-factor – 28 wickets in six Tests. I have seen him in the IPL. He has that unorthodox action, a stuttery run-up, a weird run-up but I think for batsmen you don’t get a real good sight of the ball but he has got pace and bounce and has a great yorker that I think he will utilise particularly against the tail,” Fleming was quoted as saying by Sydney Morning Herald. “That’s the factor they probably haven’t had before – a pace battery that could unsettle tails. Just with that weird action, I have noticed he can swing the ball away from right handers now. He

has actually upskilled himself as well.” Fleming, who has played a lot of limited overs and a few Test matches against India, like most of the pundits agreed that India never had such a potent pace attack. “That’s as impressive a pace attack that I have ever seen

India bring out to Australia. They are actually quite experienced now, too,” Fleming said. “They will have two unlucky quicks. It’s a real luxury. That’s good for them,” he said. But he didn’t forget to mention that Australia too have a great bowling attack.

London : Alexander Zverev set up a semifinal with Roger Federer at the ATP Finals by defeating John Isner 7-6 (5), 6-3 on Friday. Zverev is the youngest player at 21 to reach the semifinals since 2009 and the first from Germany since 2003. Isner and Marin Cilic, who plays group winner Novak Djokovic in the late match, were eliminated by the result. Djokovic will face Kevin Anderson in the other semifinal on Saturday. Isner needed to win in straight sets to have any

chance of advancing and almost took the lead when he held a set point in the 12th game of the opener. Zverev saved it with an ace and played a faultless tiebreaker to eliminate the American. In the second set, Zverev converted his only break point of the match to lead 5-3 at the O2 Arena. Reaching the last four in London is the latest achievement of a careerbest season for Zverev, whose victory over Isner took him beyond the 55 wins he achieved last year.

The current Indian pace attack is being considered as the best India have ever had as a group and Gilchrist feels that they have shown tremendous potential.

Indian pace attack’s performance will be followed with lot of intrigue: Adam Gilchrist

New Delhi : Indian pace attack has shown the ability to rip through batting lineup but its performance against Australia will be followed with a lot of intrigue, said former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist. The current Indian pace attack is being considered as the best India have ever had as a group and Gilchrist feels that they have shown tremendous potential. “Hard to tell (how they will fare) as they haven’t been here as a group and we have to find that out. That’s going to be an intriguing part of the series. Because Australian pace bowling unit has proven they are exceptional in

Australian conditions,” Gilchrist told ESPN Cricinfo. “But I am really excited from an Indian point of view about that pace bowling unit and they have shown glimpses in England about their ability to rip through potential batting line-ups. They are fit, strong, aggressive young men so they have all virtues to take on Australia in Australia,” Gilchrist stated. Gilchrist, one of the greatest keeper-batsman to have ever graced the game, didn’t agree that this series will be only about Virat Kohli’s duel with Mitchell Starc.

Gujarat: Farmers tensed as ‘nuts could At least 42 feared dead in not grow properly due to scanty rainfall’ Zimbabwe bus fire

Rajkot : Farmers were edgy about fair average quality (FAQ) parameters as groundnut procurement by the government continued across the state on the second day, Friday. Pravinsinh Jadeja, a farmer from Suki Sajadiyali village in Rajkot taluka of Rajkot district, held his breath as technicians weighed nuts obtained from a sample of 200 grammes of groundnut-in-shell drawn from a consignment he had brought to a procurement centre on sub-yard

of agriculture produce market committee (APMC) in Rajkot. The technician emptied one dish of peanuts in the tray of digital scale and then the second. The display panel flashed 135 grammes and Jadeja heaved a sigh of relief. His groundnut sample had crossed the norm of nut weight of 130 grammes. “This year, the rain was scanty and irrigation water was limited. I gave three irrigation to my groundnut crop. The crop needed three more irrigation

cycles but I couldn’t as there was no water in my open well and borewells. Therefore, the yield as well as quality of the produce is not best hence I was concerned about the sample,” 35-year-old Jadeja explained his anxiety.Jadeja and his parents cumulatively own 100 bigha (16 hectare land). They had sown groundnut in around 35 bigha of them. “Due to shortage of irrigation water, the yield this year is hardly three quintals per bigha as compared to around five quintals

last year,” said the farmer. Damji Vora, a farmer from Devgam in Lodhikha taluka of Rajkot district, had similar worries while waiting for his sample to be tested. “I am little concerned about my groundnut clearing the weight test. Due to shortage of irrigation, nuts have not grown to their usual size and could weigh less therefore,” says the 57-year-old farmer. Vora also says that his yield has dropped this year. “Last year, I had harvested 50 quintals.

US judge temporarily restores White House press pass to CNN’s Jim Acosta

Vadodara: The state government has proposed to build an airport at Rajpipla, an erstwhile princely state in Narmada district, to provide air connectivity for tourists visiting the Statue of Unity at Kevadia Colony in the district.Chief Minister Vijay Rupani held consultations with the chairman of Airport Authority of India (AAI) Guruprasad Mahapatra a few weeks ago regarding the proposal. Speaking with The Indian Express, S J Haider, Principal Secretary, Civil Aviation ministry, Government of Gujarat, said, “On the outskirts

of Rajpipla, about 28 kms from Statue of Unity, there is an airstrip which was developed by the royals of Rajpipla. It has been abandoned for a long time now and we are keen on redeveloping it.” At present, the air strip covers an area of 47 hectares. However, the AAI has sought for a larger area to develop the airport. Talking to The Indian Express, AAI chairman Guruprasad Mahapatra said, “The state government had put forth the proposal for the airport at Rajpipla and had sought our technical assistance for the same.”

Gujarat: NHAI denies permission to install tribal hero Birsa Munda’s statue

Ahmedabad : Tension gripped Vansda taluka in Navsari district on Thursday when tribals were denied permission to erect a statue of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda at Hanumanbari cross road on the occasion of his birth anniversary on November 15. On August 9 this year, the World Tribal Day, members of the Birsa Munda Yuvak Mandal (BMYM) in Vansda taluka had announced that they would install the statue of Birsa Munda on the circle at Hanumanbari village cross road, a

kilometer away from Vansda town. The cross road falls on National Highway 56. To generate awareness about the Birsa Munda statue among tribals, BMYM members along with Vansda Congress MLA Anant Patel had requested people to assemble at the location for the birth anniversary celebrations, through social media. Earlier this week, the organisation laid the foundation of the statue at the circle and obtained police permission for the event. However, officials of the National

Parties must seek permission before giving out poll advertisements: Gujarat CEO Ahmedabad : Political parties and election candidates will require prior approval from the Election Commission for circulating any form of political advertisements on television, radio, social media or any other form of electronic media, a statement from the Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat S Murali Krishna said on Friday. The move has come after the Supreme Court made it mandatory for political parties to take prior approval from Media Certification and Monitoring Committee formed at district and state level as per Article 142 of the Constitution. “Generally these

advertisements are presented to the committee for approval only during the elections. Post elections, no approval for political advertisements are sought. Hence any sort of advertisements having political message from now on is to be approved by Media Certification and Monitoring Committee at the district and state level before broadcasting it on electronic media,” the release stated. As per the SC verdict in 2004, the EC has decided to form a layout to ensure whether the advertisements being made by the candidates and their expenses conform to the laws and rules or not, it added.

Highway Authority of India (NHAI), who were also present on the occasion, razed the foundation of the statue. As per NHAI officials, construction or installation of any statue on National Highway should be approved by the authority. Members of the community were denied permission to erect the statue. Talking to The Indian Express Congress MLA Anant Patel said, “Vansda taluka is tribal dominated. The residents wished that a statue of Birsa Munda should be installed.

Washington : A US judge on Friday temporarily restored White House press credentials to CNN correspondent Jim Acosta, which were revoked following a contentious press conference with President Donald Trump, saying there should be a due process in place for limiting a journalist’s access to the White House. US District Judge Timothy Kelly, who is hearing CNN’s lawsuit challenging the revocation, ordered the White House to restore Acosta’s press pass while the case is pending. “Let’s go back to work,” Acosta said to reporters after the hearing. CNN said in a statement it “looked forward to a full resolution in the coming days” and thanked “all who have supported not just CNN, but a free, strong and independent American press.” Kelly did not address the First Amendment’s protections for freedom of speech and the press but instead focused on due process provisions of the Constitution that provide for fair treatment through a judicial process. The White House revoked Acosta’s credentials last week in an escalation of the Republican president’s attacks on the news media, which he has dubbed the “enemy of the people.” In court, US government lawyers said there is no First Amendment right of access to the White House and that Acosta was penalized for acting rudely at the conference and not for his criticisms of the president.

India, China should boost military exchanges: Chinese defence minister

2019 Lok Sabha Polls: My role will be to defeat BJP & strengthen those opposed to the party, says former Gujarat CM Shankersinh Vaghela Gandhinagar : Describing his role in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela on Friday said that he would join the antiBJP forces to make sure that they get strengthened. Vaghela has also written a letter to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Om Prakash Ravat, requesting him to fully implement the VVPAT Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) in the 2019 elections and eventually revert back to the ballot paper system of election. Vaghela, who had quit the Congress, in the run-up to the 2017 Gujarat Assembly elections, addressed mediapersons at his residence here. Replying to a query on his role in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, he said, “Mera role hoga BJP ko harane ka. Opposition jo bhi hain usko majboot karne ka, aur vote divide na ho, wo hoga… BJP ko harane ke liye jo bhi powerful hoga iske pichhe ham hamari jo bhi shakti hain, samajh hain wo lagayenge.

(My role will be of defeating the BJP. To strengthen whoever is in opposition and to ensure that anti-BJP votes do not get divided. To defeat the BJP, I will use whatever resources I have.)” Vaghela categorically said that he would back Congress in Gujarat to defeat the BJP. The veteran politician said that he has been visiting various states and meeting leaders of regional and national parties. And on that basis, he predicted a ‘nose-dive’ performance for BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He added that there was no chance of BJP-led NDA coming to power again and that staunch antiBJP parties like Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress, Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist), DMK in Tamil Nadu and Sharad Pawar’s NCP can be part of a post-poll alliance with Congress to form the government.

Beijing : India and China should boost military exchanges and improve mutual trust and properly manage and control any “disparities”, Chinese State Councillor and Defence Minister General Wei Fenghe has said. Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra, who headed the Indian delegation at the ninth India-China Annual Defence and Security Dialogue here on November 13, called on Wei on Thursday. At the dialogue, held over a year after the 73-day Doklam military standoff in the Sikkim sector, top defence officials of India and China agreed on the importance of maintaining peace in the border areas while implementing the consensus reached between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping at the Wuhan summit in April. While meeting with Mitra, Wei said China and India see far more common interests than divergencies between each other, stressing that the two countries should boost military exchanges, improve mutual trust in the security field and properly manage and control any “disparities”, state-run Xinhua news agency reported on Thursday. Mitra said India’s relationship with China is one of its most important bilateral relationships, the report said. He hoped they will further develop relations between the two countries and two militaries. At the dialogue, both sides agreed on enhancing defence exchanges and interactions at different levels between the two militaries, an Indian Embassy press release said here on Thursday. The dialogue was held between the defence delegations headed by Mitra and Lt General Shao Yuanming, Deputy Chief of Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission.
