Law Ministry to make an exception to intervene in SC’s widows welfare case, says Prasad

Amit Shah attacks Ghulam Nabi Azad, Saifuddin Soz over Kashmir remarks; seeks apology from Rahul Gandhi

Jammu : In a scathing attack on Congress for recent statements of its two senior leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Saifuddin Soz on Kashmir, BJP president Amit Shah Saturday asked its president Rahul Gandhi to take action against them and tender an apology to the nation. While Azad, leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha, had said that Army operations in the state killed more civilians than terrorists, former union minister Soz in his book – ‘Kashmir:

Glimpses of History and the Story of Struggle’, wrote that “Musharraf (former Pakistan president) had explained that if Kashmiris were given a chance to exercise their free will, they would prefer to be independent. In fact, this assessment of Musharraf seems to be correct even today”. Lashkar-e-Taiba spokesman Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi reportedly in an emailed statement had quoted their chief Mahmood Shah saying that they agreed with Azad.

Rahul Gandhi attacks PM Modi over non-construction of super speciality hospital in Odisha New Delhi : Congress president Rahul Gandhi today attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not fulfilling his promise of constructing a super speciality hospital in Odisha. Explained: Why severe heat causes flight delays

New Delhi : Flight operations were affected at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) on Friday due to the severe heat — the temperature touched 44.9 degrees Celsius in Palam. Due to heatwave conditions, services were delayed in the afternoon for nearly three hours as authorities waited for the sun to lower. A similar situation was reported from Phoenix in the United States of America in June last year when dozens of flights were canceled at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International airport for a few days after temperatures soared to around 48 degrees Celcius (118 degrees Fahrenheit). To make it easier for flyers, American airlines alerted its customers in advance.

They also offered fee-free changes to upcoming flights that were departing or arriving at Phoenix between 3 and 6 p.m., when temperatures peak. A specific airline canceled 50 flights in and out of Phoenix. The most affected were regional flights on American Eagle as they used Bombardier CRJ planes that can only operate at temperatures of 118 degrees or below, according to Washington Post. On June 26, 2017, a record high temperature at the Phoenix airport was recorded when temperatures reached 122 degrees Fahrenheit (exactly 50 degrees Celsius). Flights were grounded at the airport on that day too.

The party also launched an online public funding campaign and has set a target of Rs 20 lakh for upgrading the hospital. “On 1st April, 2015 the PM played an April Fools’ day joke on the people of Orissa, as seen in this video. The Congress party has begun a fund raise to

shame the PM into keeping the promise he made. Please contribute generously,” Gandhi said on the microblogging site along with sharing a link to the public funding. The Congress chief also put out a video of the prime minister’s speech made on April 1, 2015.

Kashmir & the shifting of the goalpost

Shifting the goalposts is to bang the drums and make a din loud enough to catch the attention of the world, draw sympathy and, then, when the other side relents, kick the can further down the road and declare ‘okay, here’s the new spot for the goalposts.’ With Donald Trump it is to deny him the wall, and push him to the wall, till there are no more barriers left, only open borders. And, then, there’ll be another shifting of the goalposts get out of the White House, with your rough edges, you don’t fit the Oval! Trump and PM Narendra Modi make two of a kind. Both are doomed to the vagaries of shifting goalposts. Neither have entitlement. In Rajdeep Sardesai’s book Modi is an interloper, somebody who stepped out of a swamp. Sardesai’s ‘My Take’, on certain days of his 9 pm TV news show, reveals his simmering resentment. ‘My Take’ sums up his bias. Nothing other than seeing Modi’s back will satisfy Sardesai. Till then, he’ll keep banging the drum and keep shifting the goalposts. As long as the PDP-BJP was stuck, it was like ‘why the hell?’ Now that it stands snapped, it’s like ‘how the hell?’ No more bridge between J & K What Sardesai cannot cram into his ‘My Take’, he makes up for in a column he writes for a national newspaper. This week’s is dedicated to the demise of the PDPBJP alliance. And where there is Rajdeep, there is always food, not just for thought. So, he talks of a lavish wazwaan dinner thrown for journalists by Mufti Mohammed Sayeed in 2015, and at which the question was asked: ‘How long will this BJPPDP alliance last?” This happened within weeks of PDP-BJP taking over J&K’s charge. Like said interlopers and those not entitled are not given time. They are set upon from word ‘go’. Mufti’s answer was, according to Sardesai, ‘I am hopeful that between Modi saab and me, we can create history and bridge the divide between J& K forever!’ Just as expected. Where the BJP is, the communal angle doesn’t lag to slant. Not just that, when it comes to Modi, he’s a fake, a Hindutva ideologue bent on donning the secular cape. So, “shorn of the verbiage, the truth is that this was a relationship doomed from the start, an artifice created to shore up Modi’s larger-than-life persona (with) Sayeed’s idealism,” writes Sardesai. According to the selfacclaimed anti-nationalist, “flush with his success in the 2014 general elections and keen to live down his Hindutva warrior image, Modi thought he could win over India’s only Muslim-majority state”…!!!!! But that’s the sort of guy Sardesai is. Next, he might conclude, in another lucid moment, that 31% of Indians voted BJP to give Modi a chance to become PM and for nothing else!

Kajol believes we must start seeing our individual beauty and stop paying attention to the beauty standards.

Kajol: I think everybody is made beautifully and individually

Hollywood - Bollywood Sanju actor Dia Mirza: Working with Raju sir was a very nice experience Dia Mirza believes fewer opportunities are left for women in Bollywood after a certain age. The 36-year-old actress, who would be seen in the upcoming biopic Sanju, talks about her struggles and love for being on camera.

New Delhi : Bollywood actor Kajol says people should stop “fixating” on the set beauty standards as everybody is made “beautifully and individually”. When asked about her stance on actresses speaking up about women being objectified and speaking up against body shaming, Kajol said, “My stance over it is that we just need to stop fixating on it so much and we need to stop paying so much attention to it. I think everybody is made beautifully and individually. The day we start seeing our beauty is when others will start seeing it as well.” The actress talked about her busy life these days.”My family keeps me busy, my work keeps me busy. I’m doing a film, a lot of ads, and a whole bunch of other things. So I’m happy with the way things are going right now,” she said. Kajol lent her voice to the character of Helen Parr aka Elastigirl, for the Hindi version of Disney Pixar’s Incredibles 2. On being asked about her next projects, she said, “I haven’t decided what next after ‘Eela’.

New Delhi : Dia Mirza says exciting work opportunities start thinning out for female actors after they reach a certain age as filmmakers and some male actors above 50 prefer to cast young heroines. Dia, who is returning to the silver screen after a gap of six years with Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju, believes the film industry is not that welcoming to female actors in their mid-30s. “For women (actors), especially once they hit their mid-30s, opportunities, unfortunately, start shrinking because some filmmakers want to cast young actresses and most male

actors, who have well passed their 50s, (also) want to work with the younger talent. One needs to break through this. It is going to take some fundamental changes in the way we approach our cinema whether it is about every woman making her choices or choosing to marry when she wants and continue to be a professional,” Mirza told PTI in an interview. Citing the example of yesteryear stars Sharmila Tagore, Waheeda Rehman and Smita Patil, who continued to get roles after marriage, Dia said today’s actors “have to push themselves, explore

opportunities, and even create them for themselves”. Dia, 36, said she waited for the right kind of roles and never accepted the offers that she felt were not good. “I waited for two-and-half years from the time I finished my Iranian film to hear from a credible filmmaker asking me to be a part of his film. In December 2016, I got a call from Rajkumar Hirani for Sanju. I was leaving for a vacation at that time. Raju sir (Rajkumar Hirani) told me to come to my office as he wanted to narrate a film. I told him that I am traveling. He said I might have to cancel the trip. He said that if I like the film and role, we will have to start reading immediately as the shooting will begin in 15 days,” she recalled. The actor said she was excited to resume work as not working on a film is “terrifying”. “I was relieved and excited because I wasn’t working on a film…it was scary and terrifying. I was excited and pumped to be part of a film that would be credible. To work with Raju sir, who I have always admired, on Sanju was a very nice experience,” Dia said.

washington : Lilian Merida-Galicia and her 7-year-old daughter were apprehended after crossing the US-Mexico border in Arizona and separated by US officials in midMay. Since then, the 23-year-old Guatemalan has been trying to learn her daughter’s whereabouts, according to her attorney, Michael Avenatti. At one point she sent a note to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). “Please could you send me a phone number so that I can communicate with my daughter?” read the note, which was written in Spanish and seen by Reuters. An ICE officer replied in a note in English: “I do not have this information.” Merida-Galicia, who is being held in California, is just one of many incarcerated immigrant mothers whose attorneys tell similar stories about chaotic situations in which the mothers don’t know where their children have been taken or how to contact them. The mothers themselves could not be contacted because access to detained immigrants is difficult. Although President Donald Trump abruptly reversed course on Wednesday following a wave of outrage at home and overseas and abandoned his policy of separating children from parents who are apprehended for illegally crossing the US-Mexico border, the fate of the more than 2,300 children already separated from their parents while Trump’s policy was still in force is unknown.
