PM Modi Slams Congress With ‘Mr. 10 Per Cent’ Jibe In Manipur Launching BJP’s campaign for the second phase of polling in Manipur, Prime Minister took a dig at the opposition Congress by reviving his jibe from the state’s 2017 assembly elections. While addressing a virtual poll rally, he said that when Congress was in power in the state their main leader was called “Mr 10 per cent”. While PM Modi didn’t directly name the leader, it is being seen as an oblique reference to allegations of corruption against three-time Congress Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh.During the run-up to the previous assembly elections, the BJP had accused Mr Singh of pocketing 10 per cent from all government projects he approved.

Cryptocurrency Can Not Help Russia Much To Avert Financial Isolation

The Russian invasion of Ukraine and the fierce battle between the two nations for the last 5days have strengthened the worst fears of our times. It seems that a war is never a donething; it’s always possible. But what’s truly devastating is the spectre of nuclear war and Russia’s ability to practically finish the entire planet with over 6000 nuclear heads it has. Notthat Russia alone has this nasty claim to notoriety. Even the West has almost an equalamount of nuclear arsenal and it only means that the world’s existence is doubly asprecarious. But the war being carried out with military hardware seems to have found a strong match intechnologies that intend to facilitate a sensible and organized world order. For example, Russia seems to have been rattled by the financial sanctions that have come from the USand its allies including most of Europe. In a major blow to Russia’s ability to carry outbusiness with the rest of the world, the US-Europe block has sanctioned four of Russia’slargest banks that together hold $1.5 trillion in assets. These banks have been cut off from SWIFT, a payment system that enables internationaltransactions. It means Russian banks can’t access even their own funds outside the countryand the Russian citizens are barred from sending or receiving money involving anothercountry. In today’s globalized world, this is an entirely unimaginable situation. And, Russiaseems to be rattled by this fallout, making 69-year-old Russian President Vladimir Putin holdout the nuke threat.Well, had Russia not foreseen this eventuality? Had it not prepared to overcome financialisolation of this nature and scale? There have been reports that Russia can bypass the sanctions and continue with thebusiness virtually as usual by using cryptocurrencies. Is it possible?Let us look at an interesting alternative that Russia has. It’s called CIPS (Cross-BorderInterbank Payments System). It’s a Chinese international payments system, first revealed in2015. It is also called China Interbank Payment System and 23 of Russia’s banks areconnected with this system, which is further connected to SWIFT.Now, whether China will allow Russian banks to use CIPS or not is not clear in view ofChina’s inconsistent stand on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. On the one hand, Chinawants Russia to shed a cold-war mentality and respect the sovereignty of an independentcountry on the other hand it has abstained from voting on a UN move to call Russia anaggressor and invader. Now, the possibility of cryptocurrencies being used by Russia to bypass internationalsanctions comes into the picture. There are two interesting and conflicting aspects at play when cryptocurrencies are beingconsidered. First, cryptocurrencies use a distributed network to authenticate transactions, meaning there can be no discrimination as to who can or can’t participate. It means anyonecan participate including Russian banks, firms, and individuals who today stand cut off fromthe mainstream international payments and financial systems. The second aspect ofcryptocurrency goes against this very notion. Despite the power to govern a blockchainnetwork distributed among members across the world, these networks are increasinglyfacing regulatory heat. The group of members who hold the voting rights to change the rulesand protocols of a network is neither non-partisan nor immune to pressure from regulators. IfRussia takes to cryptocurrencies to bypass the international sanction, cryptocurrencies aregoing to face further control and surveillance from the regulators. So, while cryptocurrencies,in principle, come across as a solution to Russia’s financial isolation, they can’t be reliedupon by a nation facing a belligerent environment. On Friday, a mining pool considered to be one of the largest for the Ethereum networkstopped servicing Russian members. NFT and Metaverse platform DMarket has stoppedaccess to Russian and Belarusian users.By far, Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of the world’s second most important cryptocurrency andperhaps the most important blockchain network Ethereum, a Russian-born Canadian citizen, has denounced Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Digital coin TRON’s founder Justin Sun hasannounced $200,000 in Tether stablecoin to a crypto fund set up by the sympathizers ofUkraine and has swelled to $13 million by now. The crypto fund is meant to be used byUkraine’s military. Many mainstream crowdfunding platforms have declined fund-collectioninitiatives on behalf of Ukraine. Realizing the importance of cryptocurrencies at a difficult time like now, Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has appealed to crypto - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara exchanges to freeze access.

SUNVILLA SAMACHAR Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, Kriti Sanon-starrer ‘Adipurush’ to release in Jan 2023

BOLLYWOOD-HOLLYWOOD

‘I’m not insecure about my screen presence at all,’ says Valimai star Huma Qureshi Agency News: Mumbai

Agency News: Mumbai On the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, the makers announced the release date of the much-awaited project, ‘Adipurush’. The film starring Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, Kriti Sanon will now be releasing on 12th January 2023. Sharing the update, Prabhas took to Instagram and wrote, “#Adipurush Worldwide Theatrical Release in 3D on

12th Jan 2023.An adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayana, ‘Adipurush’ will see actors Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan in the roles of Lord Ram and Lankesh, respectively. Meanwhile Kriti Sanon will essay the role of Sita, while Sunny Singh will play Ram’s brother Laxman. The film will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.‘Adipurush’ is produced by T-series, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar.

Huma Qureshi is currently ruling the roost with stellar acts in the Tamil blockbuster Valimai, web series Mithya and a guest appearance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. Your action scenes in Valimai are being lauded. Was shooting for them tough for you? I’m very keen on doing action. I enjoy doing action and have a blast watching action films. Women don’t get many opportunities to play action roles. We don’t get such scripts and neither the budget nor the backing. If we do get such roles, then I am sure we women are nowhere lesser than males. How would you differentiate the prep of Mithya and Valimai? The process for Mithya was different. Whatever I did in Valimai was completely the vision of my director. I was very keen on working with Ajith (Kumar). It’s an action film. I had to play a tough cop. Though she has different shades, I really enjoyed performing that character. I trained a lot for the action sequences. Mithya was (director) Rohan’s (Sippy’s) project where I played a Hindi professor. My history professor, Parul ma’am, resembles my character in the film. This character is so very righteous, but no sooner does something up and down happen in her life that it becomes so interesting. You were supposed to debut with the Tamil film Billa. What went wrong?I was supposed to do it, but because of the dates, it didn’t happen. My first Tamil film was with Rajinikanth sir, titled Kaala. It is the right time that you turned to the South with Valimai. Do you agree? We are in the age of pan India films. So films can come from any territory. Truly speaking, the story has to be engaging. Language is no bar anymore. If it’s interesting, then people will watch that film. I find it a very good time. It’s a good thing that when it’s a pan India release, your Indian audience increases. And a film with Ajith sir, we understand his magic. I think when you get to see me in that film, my fanbase will increase as it’s a completely huge and different audience. Now, female leads are getting better roles in comparison to yesteryear actresses...Yes. Sridevi ma’am and Madhuri (Dixit) ma’am have done good and strong lead roles. Before them, Nargis ma’am (Dutt), Waheeda ma’am (Rehman) and Meena Kumariji did strong women-led stories from that era. But definitely, then the number of such films made was lesser. But in today’s times, we want to do content-led parts and good lead parts. Apart from me, there are so many of my peers (friends) who are successfully doing solid female-lead roles. I feel very happy.
