Mumbai Police, on Tuesday, recorded statement of social media influencer Sapna Gill who was earlier arrested for allegedly manhandling cricketer Prithvi Shaw and attacking his car.Gill has accused the cricketer of assaulting her and touching her inappropriately on the day of the incident.According to the reports, in the two-page statement, Gill alleged that she was partying at a luxury hotel on February 15 when the cricketer and his group of friends ‘brutally slapped her and touched her private parts,’ her lawyer was quoted as saying.Gill in her complaint has said that Shaw and his friends were inebriated at the time of the incident.Gill’s lawyer was further quoted saying that the airport police station officers recorded her statement but no FIR has been registered yet. He also said that Gill is being pressured to not go against Prithvi and expressed that if there’s any further delay, they will file a case under Section 166 A of the IPC against police.On February 15, a scuffle had broken out between the India cricketer, his friend group and Gill’s friend group.

Mumbai Indians fast bowler

Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly been ruled out of the upcoming Indian Premier League 2023 and will undergo surgery on his back. Bumrah had missed the Asia Cup and ICC World T20 in Australia after the premier pacer failed to recover from a back injury last year.India’s premier pacer has been out of action since September last year due to the injury. He will in all likelihood also miss the ICC World Test Championship final if India qualify for it. India is one of the frontrunners to qualify for the summit clash which will be played at The Oval in London from July 7. Bumrah is currently being treated by the medical staff of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The BCCI medical team suggested him to have the surgery following recurring niggles in his lower back which surfaced originally in the form of a stress reaction last August, reported ESPNCricinfo. He had started to bowl nearly at full tilt at the NCA but reportedly felt discomfort while performing high-intensity drills in Mumbai earlier in January.

Axis Bank has completed the acquisition of the India consumer business of the Citigroup-owned foreign bank Citibank for Rs 12,325 crore. The deal, announced in March 2022, will see India’s third largest private sector bank absorbing Citibank’s consumer businesses covering loans, credit cards, wealth management and retail banking operations in India. In 2021, Citigroup announced its plans of exiting 13 international consumer banking markets, shifting its focus to wealth management and away from retail banking in places where it is small.

Rupee rises 22 paise to 82.36 against US dollar in early trade

The rupee gained 22 paise to 82.36 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday amid a positive trend in domestic equities. Forex traders said sustained foreign fund outflows weighed on the local unit and restricted the appreciation bias. At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 82.48 against the dollar, then gained ground and rose to 82.36, registering a rise of 22 paise over its previous close. On Tuesday, the rupee closed at 82.58 against the US currency. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback’s strength against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.02 per cent to 104.84.

Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, advanced 1.75 per cent to USD 83.89 per barrel. In the domestic equity market, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose 202.36 points or 0.34 per cent to 59,164.48 points. The broader NSE Nifty advanced 60.80 points or 0.35 per cent to 17,364.75 points. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital market on Tuesday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 4,559.21 crore, according to exchange data.On the domestic macroeconomic front, India’s economic growth decelerated to 4.4 per cent in October-December this fiscal year mainly due to a contraction in the manufacturing sector.
