The present director of CBI at relevant time was the Chairman of the establishment board responsible for transfers. He will either be possibly an accused or definitely a witness.

M K Stalin Is Now The Best Choice To Head A Revamped Upa Three weeks have passed since March 10 when the results of five state assembly electionswere announced. From that very day, the winner in four states BJP, is preparing for the nextround of elections scheduled in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat by the end of 2022. In boththe states, the BJP is the ruling party but the saffrons are not taking it with ease. PrimeMinister Narendra Modi himself kicked up the campaign in Gujarat on March 11. Theconclave of RSS soon after made an objective assessment of the results on the basis oftheir data analysis to work on acting on the weaknesses identified.That is how a national party should work in a parliamentary system. People are the finalarbiter in the polling booths. Indian electorates are no fools. They vote on the basis of theirexperience and expectations. For the time being BJP is the winner and the Congress bylosing Punjab to AAP and the other four states to the ruling party, is the worst affected. Theopposition parties are naturally worried as the Congress is the largest opposition party facingthe BJP on national plane in the electoral battle.What is the response of the Congress to the continuing outreach of the BJP and the SanghParivar to the electorate in other states which are going for polls in the next two yearspreceding the Lok Sabha polls in April/May 2024? What is the status of the UnitedProgressive Alliance (UPA) headed by Sonia Gandhi which is expected to lead theopposition in the fight against the BJP? UPA is not functioning since August last year when ameeting of the opposition parties were held. In the last three weeks, nothing has been heardabout reviving UPA. Congress leadership is too busy in taking care of its internal battle. Theleadership has no time to think of activating UPA.This is the right time to think of revamping the UPA under a new leader like Tamil NadChief Minister M K Stalin who is friendly with both the Congress and the regional partiesincluding the Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee. Stalin is 69 with good healthand is leading the front in Tamil Nadu consisting of both the Congress and the Left. SharadPawar could have been a choice also as an experienced veteran, but he is 82 and not inbest of health. He is further too much involved in saving the MVA alliance in Maharashtra asthe BJP is determined to create rift in the coalition. The municipal polls in the state areapproaching and Pawar has to play a major role in keeping the three parties united againstthe attacks by the BJP.If the UPA is revamped under the leadership of M K Stalin, the advantage is that the UPAwill have the benefit of getting the cooperation of the regional parties including the Aam AdmiParty (AAP) in forming a front against the BJP. West Bengal Chief Minister MamataBanerjee is taking a position against the Congress saying that the Congress is too weak tolead the opposition against the BJP. There is some truth in what Mamata is saying but thereality is that the Congress is the biggest political party in the country among the opposition and the party is the principal party fighting the BJP in polls in many of the states where theregional parties are absent.Further Mamata is again too engrossed now in her own battle in the state following thesavage murder incident in Rampurhat. Telangana Chief Minister N Chandrasekhar Rao isnow agreeable to rally against the BJP but not under the Congress leadership. SimilarlyNaveen Patnaik. Odisha chief minister and Jagan Mohan Reddy, Andhra Pradesh ChiefMinister can be persuaded to join against the BJP under the leadership of Stalin.Significantly, recent analysis made by BJP think tanks reportedly show that the BJP is mostvulnerable in states where the party is fighting the regional parties. The BJP is expected tolose heavily in Bengal in 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Its tally can come down to even 6 from 18.At the same time, the view is that the Congress tally will go down in Kerala from the present15 to maximum 8. The Congress can only hope to increase its strength in the 2024 LokSabha from the Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka wherethe BJP did exceedingly well in the 2019 elections. The BJP has already initiated its planningin these states to ensure that the Congress cannot increase its tally in these states in asignificant manner. The BJP’s target is not to allow Congress to cross 70 in the coming LokSabha poll, The Congress has only 52 seats now in Lok Sabha as against 44 in the earlierLok Sabha after 2014 polls.Congress leadership has to work on a 24x7 basis to improve their organization in the stateswhere the Party is the main challenger to the BJP, There are reports that poll strategistPrashant Kishor is in talks with the Congress again. If it - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara clinches, that will be beneficial.

According to a release, SFO Technologies from Thiruvananthapuram and Hical Technologies from Bengaluru have delivered flight-grade systems to the space agency. With the shifting mandate of the space agency focusing
on scientific missions and developing new technologies, the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) decided on the GOCO model for these two systems. Earlier, the centre had successfully tried a similar model for surface treatment of various parts.The RF packages and actuation systems are among the most complex in a launch vehicle and their manufacturing is equally challenging. Making an RF system involves intricate frequency tuning, complex integration and rigorous testing whereas making actuation systems requires complex mechanical and electrical integration.

With 1,335 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,30,25,775, while the active cases dipped to 13,672, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.The number of deaths climbed to 5,21,181 with 52 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.The active cases comprise 0.03 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate remained at 98.76 per
cent, the ministry said. A reduction of 635 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.The daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.22 per cent and the weekly positivity rate as 0.23 per cent, according to the ministry.The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,24,90,922, while the case fatality rate was recorded as 1.21 per cent.The cumulative vaccine doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 184.31 crore.

Aided by a pick-up in credit growth by the agriculture and industry segments, non-food bank credit registered a growth of 8.0 per cent in February 2022 as compared to 6.6 per cent a year ago.According to the latest RBI data, credit to agriculture and allied activities continued to perform well, registering an accelerated growth of 10.4 per cent in February 2022 as compared to 8.6 per cent in February 2021.Credit growth to industry accelerated to 6.5 per cent in February 2022 from 1.0 per cent in February 2021, the RBI said. high growth of 71.4 per cent in February 2022 as compared to 30.6 per centThe central bank said credit growth to micro and small industries accelerated to 19.9 per cent from 3.1 per cent and credit to large industries recorded a marginal growth of 0.5 per cent against a contraction of 0.6 per cent during the same period. It said credit growth to services sector stood at 5.6 per cent in February 2022 as compared to 8.8 per cent a year ago. Within services, credit growth to NBFCs improved significantly to 14.6 per cent in February 2022 from 7 per cent a year ago, the RBI said. Personal loans segment continued to expand at a robust rate and grew.

Agency News: New Delhi India’s current account deficit (CAD) increased to $ 23.0 billion (2.7 per cent of GDP) in the third quarter (Q3) of 2021-22 from $ 9.9 billion (1.3 per cent of GDP) in Q2 of 2021-22 and $ 2.2 billion (0.3 per cent of GDP) a year ago in Q3 of 2020-21. The current account deficit was 1.2 per cent of GDP in April-December 2021 as against a surplus of 1.7 per cent in April-December 2020 on the back of a sharp increase in the trade deficit, the RBI said on Thursday. The widening of CAD in Q3 of 2021-22 was mainly on account of higher trade deficit, according
to the RBI. Net services receipts increased, both sequentially and on a year-on-year (y-o-y) basis, on the back of robust performance of net exports of computer and business services, the RBI said. Private transfer receipts, mainly representing remittances by Indians employed overseas, amounted to $ 23.4 billion, an increase of 13.1 per cent from their level a year ago. “Net outgo from the primary income account, mainly reflecting net overseas investment income payments, increased sequentially as well as on a y-o-y basis,” the RBI said.
